Hypothetically,
If a person on June 9, 2026 buys Feb 2027 calls in OUST, but then by mid or late August exits that position, I would say they lost conviction in what they initially believed when buying on June 9. I mean there’s still 5.5 months to expiration.

Very few high beta smid caps have been able to put up a fight against the macro environment recently. My "belief" in addition to the success of the company was that QQQ had regained its momentum, but the breakout attempt failed on the back of higher and higher 10 and 30yr treasuries, on and off again war and gas prices, and a FED chairman who provides no clarity into anything.
It's got very little to do with how many Rev8 sensors Ouster is deploying, which is why I never should have bought them in the first place. But unfortunately, I had no crystal ball. Damn.

Are they not performing, or are you just saying you based your purchases on other data points?

I was confident that this mattered. That's where I messed up
I mean, we were at $52 again before things went south, and again, nothing specific to OUST.
These are the P/L for commonly cited robotics picks and shovels stocks for the last month:
VPG -34%
OUST -21%
AEVA -20%
SYM - 17%
even an industrial giant like ROK is down 13%

I think there’s a general undercurrent of fear due to the ongoing conflict, treasury yields and skepticism of profitability of some of these speculative names.
“First, don’t lose money” applies here.
That said, I’m holding OUST and NBIS as I still believe in the long term thesis and am terrible at calling the bottom.

Me, too. I tend to break even at best when trying to predict short term prices. I prefer growth stocks I can hang onto for the long term.

I simply have a really hard time selling. I treat some of these soulless companies like family heirlooms sometimes and can't part with them. It's terrible.

This is really well said, and the reason I’m here. Find me a larger TAM, with sub 1% market penetration, and a moat this solid. It won’t be easy.
