Friend,

I track food prices in a notebook every time I grocery shop and eat in a restaurant. I also bring my own scale to the grocery to weigh every item. Here are my findings from the past 365 days:

Fruits are up 6.2%
Vegetables are up 6.5%
Great Value and Members Mark foods are up 8.8%
Brand name foods are up 10.2%

Yours,
TulaneLSU

Just paid $19.99 for small king cake at local LA grocery store.

Dough, sugar and filling.

It ain’t just my azz that’s inflated!

Sorry, I listen with my eyeballs, Mr Bessent.

They don't have to be lies from politicians. SDVtiger just flat out makes stuff up.

I’d have paid much more attention in FIN 301 if the curriculum was presented thusly-

Multiple applications

France's Maginot line on the smaller one, German Blitz through Belgium on the larger one.

It is hard to discuss economics or finances with someone like sdv_puppet. He is a parrot that repeats lies from politicians. A giant of a financial guru. In his own mind. I have never seen an educated comment from him.

This, he’s easily the dumbest person on this site. Has zero clue what he posts about.

A seasonal item is not a good example to use.

Oh and the good ones cost about $30

So, it’s all labor costs?

Inflation not mitigated by creation.

Been celebrating the season for 50+ years. Inflation showing up across and, in particular, this season.

So do the bad ones nowadays. To the point.

You bought one for $20 from a local grocer, not Walmart, so your “point” is invalidated by itself. There’s a $10 king cake at Walmart with your name on it

Most of that $20 is profit margin no doubt. Grocery stores have low profit margins in general so overpaying a little for your cake is just giving a little back.

Dough, sugar and filling are pretty cheap.
