I budget for around $700/month in groceries. I bring my lunch to work everyday and we rarely dine out. I thought I spent a lot on food a month until I saw what some of y'all are spending.

Just wife and I approx
Monthly:
Groceries ~ $550 - $650
Eating out ~ $500 (including lunches)
Alcohol ~ 180
We spend an obscene amount, but a lot of the eating out is entertainment as well. I wish I didn't go add that up, we can easily cut that in half with little effort. We eat a lot of fresh veggies and meat market meat / chicken.

I don't spend by month. I spend by day. I go shopping every day for 1 bag of groceries so that everything is fresh.
Excluding non-food times (toilet paper, kleenex, aspirin, etc):
Per day: $20
So, per month: $600
Eating out per month: $50 (only once a month)
Total food expenditures per month: 650
We don't have kids. The dogs eat our leftovers. They tell me that it's 'excellent stuff.'

I would guess right around 1000, maybe a bit higher. We do about 150 a week in grocery, and probably 75 in eating out. I get a lot of free work meals though, which probably reduces our eating out spend a lot.

Weekly... around $130.
$30 on bread and ham
$100 on wine.

How? Teach me your ways.

For example, I have about 15lbs of 80/20 ground beef in the freezer that was $1.99/lb. Can make hundreds of different meal ideas with ground beef. I do the same whenever chicken breasts and thighs go on sale.
I buy 4-5 dozen eggs whenever Winn Dixie has them for $1.50/doz.
We avoid the junk food which is normally the most expensive items given the amount of "food" you get.

Wife, 1 4-year-old, and myself.
$600/month on groceries
$1400/month on eating out
So about $2000/month on food.
How on earth do y'all spend so little eating out? We don't do it big or anything remotely close, but every meal with 3 of us seems like it is at least $50-60.

Actually only 2-4 times during the week (including lunches). But we do eat out most meals on weekends.
So a week can easily go to $400+ on eating out (including drinks):
2 weekday dinners: $100
2 weekday lunches: $30
2 weekend dinners: $200
2 weekend lunches/brunches: $100

Just looked at my last month, and it was about $1000 including all grocery (food, toiletries and household items), bar, and restaurant expenses. That's for two of us.
