I don’t agree. It is but not all questions are formatted in the same way as the practice test and not all topics covered are in the practice test.

The purpose of the practice test was so we could have a feel for the final. I believe it did that well.

Session 2 complete. 40% through with the program, I'm still not sure whether it was a benefit or mistake to take MKT 701 and 705 at the same time. Although I was able to get A's in both classes, I spent a tremendous amount of time on both. However... a good chunk of the actual coursework is the same, so I kind of ended up with "double studying" some things as a result, where the work is covered in each class.

MKT 705 is a good chunk of work, but it isn't difficult. The course is laid out VERY well, with the amount of classwork balanced from week to week and no one week overwhelmingly heavier than the next. One minor problem was one of those arrogant type "smartest guy" graders who really didn't want to give 100% if he could find even the tiniest thing to nitpick on.

As everyone is probably aware by now, MKT 701 is a hellish course. The program isn't well scheduled with your three case analyses scheduled 3 weeks in a row and tests on two of the weeks that you have case analyses, and a discussion forum on each of those weeks as well. The tests are horrible without the book, and the weekly work doesn't really match the weekly topics. That said, I'm thankful for not needing to do a 20 page paper and I found the writing assignments to be easy, just time intensive for research.


Since the majority of the grading for these classes is based on your writing work, I was able to excel. I highly recommend that you "overwrite" as much as you can. If there is a maximum number of words, then write at least halfway between the minimum and maximum. More is better than less, and most of the graders are "checking the boxes" to make sure you cover everything in the rubric. Also, find references to use. At least 2, and 3 is probably better. I spent more time researching each writing assignment than the actual writing.

Lastly... use a tip I got from a TED talk by Adam Grant. Procrastinate a little (but not too much). I would read the topic the first or second day. Just read it as well as any article or video that accompanies it, but don't do anything else. Let it stew in your mind for a bit. The next day, I would do some research in the directions that I decided to work with. Sometimes I would write that day, sometimes the next day. I forced myself not to do everything at once, and the only places I missed any marks were for minor formatting issues (in MKT 705).


If you can get 100% on all your writing, you get a lot more leeway with the tests, which are worth a smaller portion of your grade.

You can get 2 C’s.

I am irritated also about ACCT 701. I finished the final and got a C and I went from a 93% to 88%. I wished I would have take the final last night so I could get the 20pts and get an A. I had no problem working out the problems it was the other questions that were difficult.

bookdragon, I had James for Mkt701 this session. It was a lot of reading, but was manageable. I paired it with MADM701, which was also a fair amount of reading/writing. I'm comfortable with writing, so neither class was that big of deal.

Since this thread is a review of LSUS, here is mine.

Overall, I think it is a pretty good program. I started in Jan of 2017. The biggest changes in my time was them disallowing textbooks, not requiring a couple of prerequisites, and the addition of more specializations. In those actions I think they are 1 for 3.

Textbooks should never be limited in an educational curriculum. It is preposterous and short sighted of them to restrict students to homemade or outdated learning material. I understand that they are trying to keep
cost down, however the material is the basis of their program. Find another way to drive down costs.

The liftjng the requirements of a couple of prerequisites is another sign of them cheapening their program. Of course, I could be a little bitter because I had to take them under the old requirements. However, there were noticeably some students in my classes that had no business being there. They consumed the professors time on basic questions. I hope the professors were strict in their grading and didn’t give these people a free pass.

I think adding the specializations was a good idea. While I only went with a general MBA, I think this will appeal to more students in the future. A real estate specialization would have greatly received my attention.


Overall, I’m happy I completed the program. I’m proud of my degree and I do not want them to cheapen it. It took me right at 2 years to complete the program at age 34 I have a wife, 2 kids and a career. In fact I accepted a new job along the way, sold our house, moved into an apartment for 3 months while we remodeled a house, moved into the house, and still maintained a 4.0 GPA. So, if I can do it, all of you can.

Im curious why all of a sudden Dr. Linn ISDS 705 has a bunch of open spots....Gibbs is full.
