I am starting to look into certified-used GMC truck. Will the Houston prices be cheaper than Baton Rouge?

check out texas direct auto. huge volume leads to great deals. i will most likely be trading in my current titan and getting a used one from them later this year should Giles in lafayette not have what i am looking for. I bought my titan and armada from giles on great deals but currently i am not seeing what i need there as far as used. your situation may be similar.

You can almost always find lower Prices in Houston due to high volume dealers. Texas Direct can have outstanding deals. I have found the same with an Acura and BMW dealer there.

The short answer is it depends.
However, the selection and volume of sales in larger markets can make buying a vehicle there more economical. I typically just expand my radius search to include Houston, Dallas, Atlanta, Tampa, etc.
All 3 used cars I bought in TX or FL. The one new car has been bought locally in BR. I priced-shopped all of them within the southeast.

As has been said, you can most likely find exactly what you are looking for in Texas due to volume and if you deal directly with them, more than likely cheaper too because they have bigger inventory on hand.

How hard is it to buy a car in TX that you won't register in Texas, but in LA instead?

Just do the research. After searching from Houston to Jacksonville, I found the best deal on my vehicle in Berwick, La of all places.

I bought my truck new in the Dallas area and had it shipped (couldn’t find exactly what I wanted for the price in Louisiana). The process was very easy except that the dealership charged me too much Louisiana sales tax and it took the Louisiana DMV five months to reimburse me.

Easy. I've shown up at the dealership with a cashiers/certified check for the sales price. Driven the vehicle back to BR and registered it at the DMV and paid the sales tax at the time of registration.

Why does Texas Auto Direct always have 1 key, no floorboards, no manuals? Charge extra for them when you show up?

Because they get all their cars from auction where all that shite gets stolen.
