Separate accounts...She pays some bills and I pay others. I get the bulk. I take the extra expenses (new roof, new AC, new Hot water heater etc.)
Been that way for 35 years.
It works for us but probably doesn't for most.

Do what works for you. When we married, she had her accounts, I had mine. We didn't combine them. We kind of set loose expectations over time...she paid for groceries, I paid cell phone bill, etc etc etc.

We did add our names to each others accounts. It's "our" money. I just don't have to worry about sharing a checking account with someone else.

Second marriages. Prenup’s No community property. She has her retirement and I have mine. I’m still working so I pay most of the bills. Works great for us.

We do everything together once it gets to us personally. She has her own business accounts and my company has it's own accounts so that's too many dang accounts to separate at home.

It works great for us for 24 years so far.

My girl does not work, nor does she have access to my bank accounts.

She has a credit card and I keep a few thousand bucks in a bank account for her.

She buys what she needs and keeps her wants reasonable.

She frankly does not understand money in any form or fashion so she prefers this arrangement.

Sounds like a traditional arrangement, in which this whole board envies you.

She has a great mindset. She knows her faults and wants to be taken care of/secure, and trusts you. She has made herself vulnerable to you. In my experience, when you have this arrangement the man tends to give more than expected as we are naturally trained to take care of women who respect men.

I don't know how separate accounts can work over the course of a marriage. People do it but that would not fly with us.

All of our money into one pot. We don't spend it unless we both agree. Worked for 28 years so far.

We have three bank accounts.

Mine, hers, and one for bills. We are on all three accounts together so we can see everything.

Every paycheck I transfer an amount into the bills account and she does the same. Whatever is left in our other accounts is our fun money. Its worked out pretty well so far and seems to be easier to figure out where money is and is going.

We take our tax return money and put it in a savings account for unexpected expenses.

She read her account and I had my account when we got married.
Kept both accounts and opened up a joint bill account.
Has worked fine for 8 years.
