Not sure which side will learn the bigger lesson but I’ve learned there are much bigger forces in play here. Still in it to win it.

So, you don't believe that supply and demand is a fundamental driver of a stock's price in the short term? Is that not a market fundamental? It is not a fundamental investment strategy, especially with a volatile stock, but it can't be ignored. GME actually proves my point precisely.

there's not buying demand to invest into a dying brand that's on the verge of bankruptcy who will likely need to issue another offering to pay off their building leases again this year while the country is shut down

there's far more selling demand coming from bagholders looking to exit asap because they realize they were duped into a meme stock

Of course it is. But you made the assertion that because a lot of shares were being traded the stock should be shooting up in price.

It certainly doesn't make any sense that the price would be dropping.

No offense, but what the hell are you talking about?

Let's start with basics...you do know that when a bunch of people are trying to sell and fewer people wiling to buy the stock price drops, yes? If it's significantly more it drops really fast. That's what we're seeing here.

Please detail why you think it makes no sense the price would be dropping.

Because I don't think more people are selling than buying right now. Neither you nor I truly know. We do know that the stock is shorted.

Do you people think there is another short squeeze on the table here? Figured everyone would be unloading, surprised it has not fallen to like 2 bucks already

Have we tried unplugging the stock market and plugging it back in? I’m new to this so

The fact that he thinks that no one knows the volume of buying vs selling, when that data is available in virtually every single financial/trading chart, tells me all I need to know.

Even if this stock doesn't take off like a rocket it could be a used as a long term play. With restrictions easing I think be being stuck in doors will flock back to the movies. In 2017-18 this stocks peak was 35.. I'm not saying it gets back but hell a good summer this year could put them back to a 15-20 buck share and I'll buy these at 7-8 all day.

quote:

In the third quarter, AMC had an average of 107 million shares outstanding. By the end of October, that had reached 137 million, and since then the company has sold about 260 million new shares to avoid bankruptcy, bringing its shares outstanding to approximately 400 million. In other words, shareholders who have held their positions over the last six months now own just one-quarter of what they did in the third quarter. While that dilution is a better outcome for shareholders than bankruptcy, the company now must generate four times the profit it had made before the pandemic for those shares to be worth the same.

quote:

Even before the pandemic, AMC was bloated with debt. The company finished 2019 with $4.7 billion in corporate borrowings and just $265 million in cash. As of the end of the third quarter, that debt had ballooned to $5.8 billion. The company has added to its borrowing since then, and much of the recent loans have come at interest rates as high as 15%, a sign of both the company's poor creditworthiness and how difficult it will be for AMC to escape this level of debt even when the crisis is over. In 2020, it was on track to pay $311 million in interest expense, which exceeds its peak operating income in a single year. From a financial standpoint, AMC has put itself in a hole it can't get out of, as it won't be able to turn a profit with so much interest to pay.

Not saying you are wrong, just hope you have all the details.
