You guys have backtracked so much on this thread it's laughable.
I think it is a shame that they don't teach reading comprehension skills anymore.
I didn't see the first bit of backtracking by anyone in this thread.

That's backtracking. Maybe you should learn to read. The WHOLE point of this thread was someone saying HAYNESVILLE SHALE was North of Benton. Now the affirmative point has degraded to "well there's something up there that we should get paid for."

If you look at the GoHaynesvilleShale site under the bossier parish group, there is a thread about the PD meeting. Someone who was there at the meeting said that NO specific lease offers were made!!
$500 per acre max it is gentlemen....

Are you getting at that humble pie? Or are your secret unnamed sources (with absolutely no reason to remain 'anonymous') going to come out of the woodwork and deal a healthy dose of vindication to your argument?

If you own land near Plain Dealing, you definitely WON'T be getting at 10,000 per acre. Try 100.

Are you calling Acadiana a liar?
Posted on 7/27/08 at 1:00 pm to Flop
until I see public proof (on the Louisiana website that shows leases) of 10,000 per acre in bonuses in Plain Dealing, yes. Not a liar, but he probably was just transmitting a rumor that is not true.

The meeting was just to inform some of the folks here about what is going on so far with the HS play. No one at all said that we were next on the list for big gas leases but also said that we're not exactly counted out either. The people here need to be prepared and know what they got as far as land acreage, mineral rights, s/t/r, etc...it's better to be prepared than think its never gonna happen and be swindled when it does.

Hey General not taking a shot but those public sites we both know are way behind the curve and do not have up to date info. Yes PD probably does not have HAYNESVILLE SHALE and yes dinardoodoo call it backtracking or whatever but bottom line land owners around there will eventually see more than 250-500. SOME HAVE ALREADY SEEN MORE!!! I'm not the o&G employee others here are.

I agree with most of your post, and hope indeed that Plain Dealing land owners are able to get good royalties and lease bonuses from the gas and oil formations that have a decent chance of being in that part of the parish.
What concerns me, is that there is a mentality out there that holding out for months or years will lead to the greatest rewards for the landowner. Whether this is the case or not depends on so many variables.... To turn down life changing amounts of money on a good lease (key in the long run is to get the 25%+ royalties), in the vain hopes that a person will become a millionaire from one acre or two is succumbing to irrational greed. NG has fallen from $14 to $9/MCF in the past few weeks, and so whether or not a company has hedged forward production will dictate whether some prospective lease bonuses are reduced or withdrawn. Another factor is tax rates. If Obama wins, the taxes on lease bonuses big enough to hit the top tax rates will probably be in the 50-60% range, not the 35-40% range this year. So you'd have to see a sizeable increase in bonus money next year just to break even compared to a lower lease bonus this year under that scenario.

$100/acre ain't a life changing amount of money, then when you consider that O&G will get 75% of your royalty interest for that!
jus sayin...but everyone looks at their financial situation thru a different lens!

Wow
I'm with ya im not in that boat or recomend that holding out thing for eternity as getting a producing well in that area would be of greater importance in my eyes as well.

Maybe the pipelines going thru the north part of the state are a factor... I would think that the transmission company already has this takeaway capacity earmarked for the Barnett play?
Any thoughts on this?

I don't know that was the kinda thing i wondered, mayby some of the pro's here can chime in on whether this is the factor that will open the door up here or not.
