Started out owing $90k and just kept plugging along and today I wrote a check and went ahead and paid off the remaining balance. 12 years ago, I never thought this day would come.

Damn, I hate the Guard but thankful I don't have to pay a dime. The wife had her nursing school paid for by her parents.
Congrats!

Congrats man. I'm staring at about $120k right now and about to start lobbing some lump sum payments at them from my savings account. My goal is to get them under $100k by the end of the year, which I think I can definitely do.
Little by little. I want them gone.

Nice. I'll be happy when I can knock mine out. But I opted to pay off my car note this year with part of my annual bonus since my student loans are consolidated around 2%.

Awesome Bro. feels great to get rid of an albatross like that. Now your paycheck belongs to you. I think an endzone celebration is in order.

Congrats on investing in yourself! It paid off for you! Sounds like you got the career you wanted and it helped to fund your lifestyle and pay your loan in full! Great!

Did she go to Harvard and Tulane?

Bizarrely, for many people Tulane is actually the more expensive of the two. If your parents make $65K or less, Harvard doesn't require you to pay a dime. LINK
But then again, Harvard is the Tulane of the north. Just ask any Tulane alum and they'll tell you.

Tulane is such a joke in terms of value.
