Perfectly timed when people decided they don’t want EVs
Idiot politicians have been pushing EV's well beyond the infrastructure needed to support them. It's like they don't know were electric power comes from or how they are promoting usage beyond grid capacity in their mad rush to fight "climate change."
Still, lithium batteries are dominating across the market in many forms.

ALB taking it on the chin today and post market
Good Grief! i'm bagholding on this one. I wont even start DCAing until the bleeding stops . That could be at 50@share the way things are going .

At $50 a share ALB would be trading at about $4B less than assets net of liabilities. I wouldn’t wait for that price if I were you as it isn’t coming. I just started a position at an avg price of $122.

Leave it to SLI to ruin this beautiful day.

Not necessarily all bad. The shorts and clm bought me 300 shares for the past month.

Smack, you're being coy...what is it that you know?
Nothing to speak of just yet, but I do have a meeting with corporate folks to formalize an agreement for my services. Trying to work out a time when Mintak will be in town. I would love to discuss some things with him in a face to face meeting. Our previous relationship was through Lanxess, I will only be dealing with SLI now. Hopefully be able to get a little more firsthand insight.

Since Albemarle recently offered to buy Liontown (it fell through), I decided to compare SLI's production timeline with Liontown's for our reference.
Explanation: Liontown is about 7 months away (mid 24) from first production at their Kathleen Valley project, which is comparable to our SWA project in Net Present Value.
So, my simplistic mind concludes that we are roughly 2.5 years behind where Liontown was when Albemarle first offered to acquire them.
One obvious factor is how both companies' expansion projects factor into their values.
Also, Liontown is less risky as a hard-rock miner, I assume.

Not sure how remarkable this is but I noticed that our Cass County (East Texas) brine options are good for only two years and are effective ranging from March to November 2022.
Much shorter than the Tetra brine options that SLI just exercised which were good for ten years. Gonna have to start leasing from those Texas folks within the next 12 months.

I wouldn't yell from upon high about the highest brine concentrates in the land if I didn't intend to lock them up. Good find!

If you’re looking for optimism, go listen to Elon with Rogan (Joe Rogan Experience) that came out late last week.
If you don’t feel like listening to the whole thing, start at about the 25 minute mark and listen to at least 15 minutes worth.
Perhaps a different area where lots of lithium could be used in addition to EV’s.
Yall baws have a good weekend.

I have to say, I recently replaced my lead acid battery for my kayak fish finder with a lithium phosphate battery. This thing is as light as a feather compared to the old battery.
I’m a big believer in lithium batteries. They are absolutely proven in-use and the superior choice for almost every application. But I don’t think that EVs are going to make it in the near future. It may be the best tech for their power that we have now but it may be passed up by another technology before we move away from the ICE.
I was having a conversation with someone today about the death of early EVs in the 1900s. It made me think of Exxon buying all that land in Arkansas. What are their real intentions with this land? Is it to extract lithium or to prevent the extraction of lithium? Really makes you think.

You'll never be able to get back to the East Bay with risky moves like this.

I was looking for evidence of progress, something other than presentations and seminars and found google earth images of the pilot plant location.

So, I got moved from TD to Schwab, and they say I need $100k to qualify for securities lending now. That sucks! Vanguard is the same way apparently. Any brokers out there that don't require such a huge sum? Thanks
Posted on 11/6/23 at 1:20 pm to ThermoDynamicTiger
If you have an IRA you can move that to Schwab and it will count towards your required assets.

Now if they could only make some lithium to sell!
