Piedmont getting wrecked today and honestly, it should be worse than it is. Might be a good one to short right now. Wish I would have moved on it a few weeks back.

I told y’all I got bad vibes from their CEO , during the round table they had with Standard, regarding their NC regulatory status. Well it looks like the brakes just got slammed on that again and they are now actively looking internationally for their first project.

Bad bad news for piedmont. Good for SLI, I think, as they were competitors; but there was plenty of demand to go around and the hit to a US lithium company’s hopes is probably just going to create doubt in other US lithium juniors in the short term.

I know everyone always jokes about the potential for Tesla to get involved but with PLL stalling in the US there is probably legitimate smoke there now.

They couldn’t be a part of the Lanx project, but could definitely entertain another JV to get the SW Arkansas project fast tracked. The only question is whether the timeline fits as Tesla wanted to start receiving lithium in ‘23 and I don’t think, even with Tesla money, the SW Ark plant could break ground before ‘24. Which means no lithium til ‘25.

Man I’d love to be a higher up on the SLI strategy meetings right now tho.

Yup there is no telling really.

No guarantees we get a PR on any Lanxess developments til the FEED is completed, which is only a vague Q4 timeline. They could release that they are starting the FEED, which we would want to see literally now. Anything later than this week is “delayed”. And Standard definitely doesn’t have a history of being on time. But again, that could have started earlier this month and we just don’t know it cause they aren’t planning on PRing.

Other than that there are potential PRs involving fed funding and processing of SW brine. But no good timelines on those.

A friend of mine that works for Koch Engineered Solutions sent me this. It’s not directly related to SLI but we know Koch dumped 100mm into them. Thought some of you may be interested.
