Ugh opened up my E*TRADE and saw the SLI ticker at the top of the news feed. Thought we had news for a sec but just the trading resumption alert from yesterday.

Right at the open has usually been a good time. The following 30 minutes after is when it runs up

Hard rock lithium mining is meeting a lot of resistance.

Takeaway
The biggest takeaway of this article is to realize that denying Thacker Pass will have a freezing effect upon lithium investment in America. You might as well give the keys to future energy dominance to the Chinese. Thus my assessment is the mine will go forward. Meanwhile, a horde of lithium investment is occurring. Hence, lithium miners have been our focus for the last several years and should be at the forefront of the time you put into research as well.

My prediction is another red day today and possibly tomorrow (Friday could end sideways).
It's gotten significantly more attention the last month and the lack of JV or other news announcements will begin to affect the new investors.

The lack of a JV or any other announcement after a quick up list has been a bit head scratching. I think the run up was in anticipation of something, and sell off is impatience. Still have every belief this thing is at $12 - $15 before EOY.

IMO, speculating, JV delay drivers:
-Lithium value / demand projections increase
-SLI pilot test exceeding expecations
These two drastically shift size of the prize vs what was on the table 12+ months ago.... huge upside for both parties. If the tech is what we believe it to be.... $10B market cap in 3 years. 1B is a joke if this tech does 1/2 of expectations

Agree. Could be wrong, but situations have changed and SLI funded building of SiFT unit. Hopes are now reality. There's a price to pay for that. Then Tetra and maybe Galvanic. Changes whole dynamic of how separate company formed by JV between LNXSF and SLI would operate. I can understand Lanxess wanting a piece of the pie since this they had to forsight to let SLI do their thing. Things got real complicated, but IMO it's all been in SLI's favor. Just a guess.

To whomever, when do options trading begin? I have a feeling there are some folks salivating at the chance to short this and plan to liquidate triggering a sell off. If I'm Mintak, and I'm within all legal boundries, I hold any announcements until I see this coming and break their asses.
Just a thought. I hate short sellers and market manipulators. Bout decided if they want to play some games, we'll play some fricking games.

I've seen SLI on my fully paid shares lending report every day for the past week or so...so someone is borrowing shares for something. Would that include people buying on margin as well as those shorting it?
Posted on 8/12/21 at 9:58 am to Chucktown_Badger
Is getting 30 cents a month worth letting shorts hurt our stock with your shares?
Posted on 8/12/21 at 10:15 am to el Gaucho
I’m not loaning shite. But I’m loading up for bear when they try to short it.
Posted on 8/12/21 at 10:49 am to el Gaucho
It's more than that baw. Also, if it's not me, someone else will lend them. And besides that, I know where this stock is going so if they want to short it, have at it. I laugh in their general direction.
Also, this

The simple and most practical answer here is NO.

Albermarles expanding bromine production, pushes lithium down the road
Mentions SLI and DLE
quote:
In Union County, Standard Lithium has partnered with Albemarle competitor Lanxess. Standard Lithium, using its proprietary technology, is operating a pilot plant to extract lithium from saltwater brine after Lanxess has used the same brine to produce bromine.
In Columbia and Lafayette counties, Tetra Technologies and Galvanic Energy subsidiary Saltwerx have separately acquired brine leases with an eye toward building facilities for bromine or lithium production. Neither Tetra nor Galvanic have gone beyond the leasing stage.
Norris, Albemarle’s president for Lithium, said the company continues to look at its Magnolia-area chemical plants “as being a spot where we could process lithium in DLEs. There is potential technology for that.”
quote:
Generally, in nations like Chile, Albemarle uses an evaporation process that yields lithium over a period of weeks. Standard Lithium’s test plant yields battery-grade lithium in a matter of minutes, but in small quantities. Standard Lithium plans a much larger full-scale lithium extractor in El Dorado.
quote:
Norris outlined the drawbacks he sees with the DLE process.
“With many of the (DLE) projects, they’re talking about absorption resins and so it’s a mechanical operation as opposed to an evaporation effort such as we do in Chile, that you would only apply if you have to apply, meaning you apply it to resources of lower quality or that have higher impurities present."
Oilfield brines – which would be the lithium source in Magnolia – would produce lithium with quality problems, Norris said.
quote:
Any DLE in Magnolia would likely come later in the decade “given those technical challenges and given its cost profile,” Norris said.
