Car salesmen are idiots for the most part. Most have to read the car’s major features to you off of the info sheet. Cars sell themselves, salesmen are just there to scam you

Just adding what I'm seeing on my personal research via FBMP...

LOTS of cars are being posted either with financing remaining or asking people to take on their remaining payments.

Tick tick tick...

Wholesale prices continue to trend down

Is it happening? Should I buy a used car in the next few weeks or continue to wait?

If you can wait it will be to your advantage

Sniff around in December or even wait for next year.

My wife and I were new car shopping 3 months ago and every dealer was adding 5-7.5k OVER the MSRP for $35,000 - $40,000 SUV’s.

I gave my contact info to 3 dealers in the southeast in the process and told them I was a buyer at MSRP.

I just got phone calls this week from all 3 dealers. (All 3 within a 72 hour window).

Something is up and the tea leaves must be changing.

I just decided I am no longer a buyer at MSRP. It now must be lower.

Agreed.

The wife's car is getting up there in age and travel back and forth to Memphis is racking up miles (but it's always been well-maintained). She's starting to get antsy about getting a new vehicle but I'm trying to convince her to hold on til at least November or December because prices should soon start dropping across the market due to a glut from repos while production continues to ramp back up.

It’s anybody’s guess, but the supply chain issues do seem to be lessening. I had planned on buying a new daily driver early next year, so I’m hoping that prices have normalized by early March 2023.

On the flip side, I’ll be selling my current daily driver around that time too. So, let’s see what happens to used car prices. I’d consider trading it for the new one, but I tend to get much more on private sales than what dealers want to net out. But we’ll see.
