Did they waive your fee?
Got AF coming up on JBplus.

They did not waive the fee. In fact, they told me that they could not downgrade me to a no-fee card either and that I would have to pay the fee. So I told them I wanted to cancel the card and have the fee refunded. And they did so without even questioning or trying to get me to reconsider. The whole call lasted less than 2 minutes. It was bizarre.

Anytime the call isn’t going the way you want, HUCA.

Hello got a question may be dumb
So I have chase sapphire which I get 2x points on dining and travel among others
I also have chase freedom unlimited which I get 1.5 percent cash back on all purchases which I use for non travel and dining.
I was looking at the amazon card with them.
You get 5 percent cash back for amazon and whole food purchases
2 percent back dining out, drugstores, and gas stations. 1 percent everything else
So my question is would it be worth getting it. And the dumb question is, is 2 percent cash back the same as double points. If not someone break it down for me bc I feel dumb af

The Amazon Visa is worthwhile if you use them for recurring/grocery or big consumer electronic purchases, esp with with no anual fee. And the 2% on gas is a nice supplement if you don't have a dedicated gas card.

I just got the AMEX Platinum. My wife is probably going to sh*t a brick, but the purchase and rental protection hands down is the best I’ve experienced in the past.
If I’m not getting the use out of it I have in the past, I’ll just downgrade it to Gold.

I should also add that Priority Pass saved my skin back in 2016. I remember having the worst bubble guts in Heathrow Airport after a 7-8 hour flight with no sleep. I was hung over, overly tired from trying to navigate overseas travel for the first time.
The Priority Pass let me into a lounge that had private bathrooms that were maintained regularly, access to a full shower, fed me and allowed me to drink for free.
I’ll be honest and tell you that whole experience was worth what I paid for the card premium.
Otherwise I’d have been shitting in a hot bathroom with about three other Saudis on layovers.

Man, this thing has fallen far back...
Just came across a 60k points offer for Amex Gold.
Anyone had this card before?
I dumped the platinum and reserve back in Feb due to annual fees coming up and the travel restrictions beginning and am ready to churn and burn again.

Ya I (actually my wife) got Gold at 75k and Plat at 100k.
I use the Gold a lot for grocery and dining categories and, with the help of the Amex Blue Business (2x everything), helps me diversity between Chase UR and MR.

Damn, when was that. 60 is the highest I’ve seen for Gold.
I want the Plat or Reserve again, but may settle for Gold and Sapphire Preferred until international travel opens back up.

Was hoping to get the 125k but only offered a 100k. I may jump on it

They offered me 200 prior to canceling mine earlier this year... but I was splitting between it and reserve, so not a ton of spending

I'm itching to add some cards
I really wanna pull the trigger on the Amex Blue Cash Preferred® Card. $250 cash back + no annual fee the first year then 6% on streaming and grocery stores. I'd have to spend about 1,583.65 on the 6% category to break even every year and I think that's easily do-able.
I see Chase has some new flex card. No annual fee. $200 back. Don't see many good cash-rewards for Chase right now so might as well get the free $200.
Other than the incredible initial reward of $800.00, somebody needs to sell me on the Saphhire Rewards for $95/year. They don't have any really good cats for point returns. Do they change categories? I can justify the $95/year for the AMEX b/c of 6% returns but Chase is skimpy

If you travel, Saphire Reserve points are worth double for anything travel related.
IMO, they have by far the best overall redemption rate for flights, hotels, and rental cars (unless you only fly business or 1st class).
I've flown to Spain, Vietnam, Japan, to name a few for a ridiculously low amount of Chase points.
My best bang for my buck to this day is renting a car in Spain for 3 weeks for what amounted to $50 in points through the Chase portal. I thought it was a misprint or a bait and switch, but sure enough it was correct.
Actually, I did that entire 3 week trip on just the 100,000 bonus I received for the Reserve.

yeah I basically hoard my CR points to save up for traveling
but what I meant was it doesn't appear that PREFERRED (i may have said reserve earlier but preferred has the 80k point offer going now) has good point redemption rates, currently. it looks like 5% back on Lyft rides, 2% on travel, and 2% on restaurants (reserve is 3% on both but reserve is 550/year and preferred is 95/year. no way i can make 550/year net positive for me right now)
