I have layovers in JFK and Mexico City (had 300k Aeromexico miles to use up) for several hours each on the way to Madrid in May. It looks like I'll be hitting Centurion lounges in both cities.

But ya, if you're not using any of that extensively it's hard to justify. Gold is much better.
Looking back, I could have kept the plat, but with the CSR fee and then my other two burn fees all at the same time, it didn’t make sense...
They will offer a resign offer in the future and ill grab it again. Was able to slide another 100 on the airline credit before rolling out. So I actually ended up with 500 in airline credit with one fee
The gold and 4x restaurants is tempting...

The train lines were the selling point
I imagine most trains are in/out of Shinjuku station, it is easiest to walk from the hotel to the station. Don't take the subway 1 stop into Shinjuku station
Also, there is a 7Eleven in the basement if you need something quick. Keep in mind, their gas station prepared food is shockingly legit / clean (it is Japan)
Finally, if you are tired and want an easy restaurant, there should be a Tonkatsu place that's not bad over there. If you are looking for some non Japanese food, Al Dente right next door is great Italian. It sounds weird but Japan does American/Italian food better than what you find in many places in the US

made the most sense with the kid that I could get a suite.
Makes sense. They were doing renovations last year I believe and it may ahve been club/suites. If so, let me know how they look

I've seen pics of those. Seemed huge.
Extremely cool

Ya, according to my research there may be one or two places using the line in the basement makes sense. Otherwise it looks like using Shinjuku is the way to go.
I had read about that 7 Eleven for my purposes as well.
Probably do a little bar sightseeing after the kid goes to bed so if you know any a short walk/train ride away max I'd be interested. I've looked up a few already.

I like going out in Roppongi personally. Not too far away. I don't have specific places as I just follow my Japanese coworkers.
Kabukicho is walking distance but more adult entertainment. They also have the absurd robot restaurant there
Finally, the coldstone creamery in Shinjuku station top floor is fun for the kids. They sing Japanese jingles.

I actually have flights in both airports coming up too, just missed going in JFK on my last international flight because of the construction delays. I read something about the MEX airport lounge not having free food: MEX Centurion Review, seems ridiculous for a Platinum lounge, have you ever been? Thinking about downgrading the Platinum anyway unless they give me a retention offer.

This will be my first time in the Mexico City airport. I do know that there are multiple Centurion lounges there.

What’s the best card deals right now? Just bought a house and will have some shite to buy here soon and figured I’d get me some sign up $. Currently have a Discover and a Bank if America that have been open several years. Wanted to do the Southwest 75K signup but it’s not valid right now. I’ll have a couple thousand in expenses plus my usual 500-1000/month.

Chase is crediting everyone $100 when they charge the $550 annual fee this year for the CSR. Check your secure messages in your account. So we basically get one more year until the fee increase

Awesome. I was going to cancel my Wife’s. I guess we will keep it another year.

Can’t believe this fell back to page 3...
Anyone seeing any good offers based off of the current environment?
Got an offer for 100k United Points with their new card. Not a bad deal

Just got the CSP and using that for the next few months to get 75k points.
Usually my only expenses are dining. Would the 2x for dining on the CSP be better than 3% cash back on a capital one card?

Anyone having trouble getting in touch with their credit card companies? Tried calling Barclaycard Monday and hung up after 30 minutes on hold. Sent them a secure message through my account. I’m trying to either get my Arrival Plus annual fee waived or downgrade to a no-fee card..
No response still by this morning so I called again and have just had my cell on speaker as I work from home. I’ve been on hold for three hours and thirty minutes. What the hell are people with real problems doing?

Chase has updated the application form for business credit cards, currently this new form is showing when logged in on regular applications. The new form is not showing on referral links and when not logged in. The form is largely the same with two key differences:
Annual business revenue can no longer be zero
Requests ‘Business Established Date’ rather than ‘Years In Business’

Try this analyst direct number if you still haven't gotten through. 866 408 4064.
I called yesterday to combine limits and they picked right up.

Applied for this as well and had to submit proof of tax id number. Sent that proof but hadn’t heard back. I guess they are trying to limit abuse of those “sole proprietor” hobby type of “businesses”
The funny thing is I have business checking/savings account with them (not for long) and a fricking PPP application on file. Just goes to show they are too big to hassle with.

Chase is requiring more business info for their cards. Also you can no longer add $0 revenue on the application. Chase recently updated the application page on business cards to require a minimum income and business established date.

Thanks. I actually called Monday and got through after about 30 seconds.
