If Chosen can get an award for you using his link, go for it.

Go here and enter the info and see if you can send people referrals. LINK
If it says "Entry not recognized" then you can't.
If it brings you to the next page, then click on the twitter button and hit proceed. Then Copy the app link from that window and post here. If someone clicks through that link and is approved you get 10K.
If your brother, JamalSanders and Chosen One don't have any, I can send you one

Yep, that is what I have been getting.
Did you get credit for mine yet? I am almost at the threshold for the bonus. I have treated myself a little.

Not yet haha. It takes a while (if you clicked through my link).
And that is awesome. Enjoy your UR. I love them
Btw that sucks about the referral. In the next quarter I am sure Chase will let you send referrals. Until then you don't really get a referral bonus.

So, i haven't done anything yet with regards to my Barclay's Arrival World plus or whatever it's called. I still have it, and put about 30K a year on it in spending.
It's still at the 2 points for every dollar, and I plan to use the bulk of my points for cash back on travel expenses.
But, I'm still wondering why it's not a preferred card on here, and that maybe I'm missing something. I see mention of the Citi cash card, and the Chase cards. Is it really a matter of how you can use the rewards? With Barclays I have to travel, then cash the rewards, is that why folks like the Chase/Citi better, you get to use the points at booking and not reimbursement? Is there more flexibility in the way you can cash your points on other cards?

Citi double cash doesn't have an annual fee

I posted this on the travel board, but thought it might be better here. Which IHG hotel would you recommend in NYC? We are planning on going in December (haven't seen NYC around Christmas). Would you recommend IC Times Square (I am ambassador), or CP Times Square?
I also looked at the Barclay, but think that is a little further away from attractions.

I can't speak regarding the Capital One Venture vs the Barclays Arrival, but here's my advice.
1) as you are planning, if you are playing the points game, always, always pay off your balance. If you carry a balance and pay fees, there is no point to earning points for travel, as they will cost you more than they are worth. This is because the cards that give you the most bang have annual fees (which are often waived the first year). Be responsible with your credit or it will not be worth it.
2) to me, Chase Ultimate Rewards (UR) points are worth the most. I don't earn any Starwood points, but those are very highly regarded as well, but under some uncertainty due to the Starwood/Marriott merger. UR are transferrable 1:1 to many other entities, the best of which, for me, are United, Singapore KrisFlyer, Southwest, and Hyatt.
If you are just establishing your credit, getting a good points earning card may or may not be possible. I would personally get the Chase Sapphire Preferred (CSP) and a Chase Freedom and a Chase Freedom unlimited. Only the CSP has an annual fee, waived the first year.
Regarding rent, the best way to do it is by a company called Radpad, or potentially trying Plastiq, but both of these typically cost a small percentage. Discuss it with your landlord, who knows, maybe they take credit cards.
Utilities depends on your utility company. I'm in California, and the utilities companies do not take credit. My folks are in Texas and theirs do. Car note depends on the lender. Insurance, usually, yes. Ultimately, you can use Plastiq to pay all of those, but you will be incurring a percentage charge. To me, it's not worth the percentage that Plastiq takes, except for when they have had a few low percentage promotions (1.5% or even free).
Check out this post as it has some basic pointers. The Frugal Travel Guy, Million Mile Secrets, and The Points Guy are blogs that I frequently read. Be aware that a lot of bloggers are paid to push certain cards, in particular Chase. There is a ton of information out there. Check out r/churning as well. I have not even scratched the surface of what is out there.

If you don't have a credit history you aren't getting approved for a Chase Sapphire Preferred. Get a Freedom, start banking points and then try to get the CSP. For the most part these are premium cards and you aren't going to get approved for most until you have a credit history established.

You need to keep new people away from at least 2/3 of those blogs. Not trustworthy imo especially MMS.
For me, since the time he led unsuspecting newbies applying for 4 AS cards at once, he's lost all credibility. Good thing I stayed away from that. Paints a pretty picture, and if you don't know what you're doing you get burned. Most people don't do the due diligence required.

Definitely do not try to get CSP. You won't get it. Go for one of:
1) Chase Freedom Unlimited
2) Discover Miles card (great earning potential for year 1)
3) Discover It (Same as #2)
These are the easiest to get. Discover is easier than Freedom. Even more easy to get is Discover It.
Start with one of those.

can I get someone to cosign for the credit card similar to my car loan.
No. You can only get added as an authorized user on someone else's account.
You need to start at the bottom with credit cards and work your way up. The rules have changed dramatically in the past 12 months and you are going to have to research and carefully consider which card(s) you apply for as they will impact your future ability to receive additional cards from one of the big three (American Express, Chase and Citi).

Correct. You can't transfer points out of Freedom Unlimited unless you have the CSP. Which you plan on getting. So you'll be fine. Read a few recent pages of this thread for the discussion

Extending a thank you to you for the advice on the Chase Sapphire Preferred and Chase Hyatt. I'm a month in and just hit the $4,000 in spending for my sign up bonus. Now on to complete the $1,000 in spending for the Hyatt card with plenty of time to spare. This should help greatly with some vacation expenses.
Is it worth it to leave this CSP account open after the first year once the annual fee kicks in?
