If it's your only means to transfer UR points out to partners yes.

2) to me, Chase Ultimate Rewards (UR) points are worth the most. I don't earn any Starwood points, but those are very highly regarded as well, but under some uncertainty due to the Starwood/Marriott merger. UR are transferrable 1:1 to many other entities, the best of which, for me, are United, Singapore KrisFlyer, Southwest, and Hyatt.

This may be a silly question but I've always had the Chase United World Explorer and I a accrue miles not points. When you say 1:1 transfer of points to an airline does that mean each point on the Chase Ultimate Rewards transfers as a mile?
Thanks

Yes 1 point equals 1 mile when transferring. We use it for dining as each dollar spent dining gets us two points.

Thanks

The world explorer has been good to me but I think I'm paying a $100 year fee. I get about 1-1.5 international tickets per year from it and 2 presidents lounge passes that I've never used

Is it worth it to leave this CSP account open after the first year once the annual fee kicks in?

As VA stated, it's your only way to transfer UR points to partners unless you have an ink. Second from that, call retention near your annual fee date and see if you get some kind of offer. I call every few months on all my cards...never hurts to ask.

I'm glad you're on your way to some cool redemptions.

As VABuckeye pointed out, why not get the CSP which earns you more points and transfers to not just United but gives you the flexibility to transfer to other valuable partners as well that would pretty much cover all your bases. UA, Korean, Singapore and Hyatt are my favs in that order.
Also - I always point out - if you ever rent cars, don't overlook the awesome benefit of free primary rental car insurance. Covers the AF if you rent once or twice a year.

Why wouldn't you use the lounge access? Fly out of crap MSY a lot?

Imo, lounge access makes flying so much better. You don't realize it until you start using them. And I am sure if you added on Global Entry with it, your airport experience becomes a LOT smoother. I've heard so many people say it is the best $100 they have NOT spent

I go to Chase every day and I still signed up online. It's too easy signing up online.

I also get free checked bags with United with the world explorer card, so it's an added perk

But I'm definitely going to look into the CSP

My bad, that must have been after I started reading MMS. TPG has also largely become a shill. He got a centurion card, for crying out loud. I listed a few blogs because I find they often have good information and good deals as well. However, as with everything, we need to think for ourselves and realize what we can handle and what we can't.

Damnit. My luck has turned good job.

The ultimate rewards portal has gotten me almost 15k points just for purchases in the last 3 months. People often forget about it, but damn it's worth it. Basically get about $400 of free travel for clicking through links and buying online.

By the way, it went much smoother for me than the Web made me believe. They closed it and sent me my $40 remaining quickly.

The UR portal would be helpful if I didn't have all this Amazon credit from Q4 still going

Not sure if it's a good thing or not but my wife has moved a lot of her clothes shopping to Amazon

I was just thinking about you today TeddyRuxpin. Moving places and going to buy a ton of stuff for complete home automation. I was wishing I would've bought the $3K in Amazon GCs like you back in Dec

So I'm the only one that failed. Damnit. Hah.

I did get 15k AA miles and paid 2 or 3 months fees, so I still came out ahead. Just not optimal resolution. Getting complacent in my game I suppose.

I haven't been following the rumors on the 5/24 for Chase co branded cards. Do they still believe this to be true? Think I'll aim for one more united personal card.

For those with the Citi premier is the idea for those traveling on business to travel 4 nights, get the 4th night free and get reimbursement for the 4th night later after reimbursement from company?

I'm going to have to start checking employees cards

Ofcourse. I see it as me paying $450 a year to have that benefit. No guarantees whether or not I will be able to make it back

Just shop through the UR portal. Whenever you are shopping online check everward first

In other news, I found 2 Suites awards on Singapore on the LAX-NRT route today available to book but I can't fly it. If anyone can fly next April. Let me know
