If my memory is correct we found the tropical breeze and a ceiling fan to be more than adequate. The temperature was very comfortable when we were there in the stone ages.

Very nice.

I'd probably get it in writing. As of now, I'm 1 for 2 with Starwood on points being given to me for problems actually going to my account.

I'll note in either case I didn't ask for them or complain, not my thing really. But I'd definitely take the offer to get 250k points back and sleep well at night.

We went around the same time last year and would've been fine without AC since you have such a nice breeze, but we sure did use it and I would definitely expect to be compensated. I'd actually push to get them to re-book you since that's not an easy thing to do these days. 2 trips for 1? Please....

Which bungalow are you in? I think we were in 204 or 205. Enjoying those $25 club sandwiches? .

My bedroom at home does not look like this. I can see a fence out of my window.

Me neither, until I saw Teddy Ruxpin's post. I think it came online yesterday. And it is already buzzing.

Btw - 20K in towards my 40K spend to Hilton Diamond I got my IHG plat status matched to Hilton Diamond until March 2018. Much ado about nothing 2016. Not complaining though. Got tons of Hilton stays coming up this year

That's what I would do as well. It's at least worth a try. If they can't then get something in writing when you check out. That's a lot of points to just take someones word for it.

I thought about that, but honestly we want to check out some other places. We have had one of the best vacations, but I have limited time off right now, and would like to continue exploring other places.

With regards to the ac, the first 2 nights were great because the wind was blowing right in the windows of out bedroom. The last two nights, the breeze is from the opposite direction, and I wake up drenched.

We are staying in 237. It faces the beach, but is also in perfect water depth. I have been perfectly happy with it.

In regards to how I booked it, there used to be a loophole where you could manually enter dates past the one year mark and find availability. I booked these rooms a month before they were supposed to be available. From what I have read, they have since closed that loophole.

That's frustrating.

I would also ask that they refund your points plus the additional points necessary it would take to book it again. So, another 40k points with the new rates.

Enjoy the rest of it...

ANA IAH-BKK RT surcharge is ~$520

Splitting the trip into two RT tix the surcharges drop to $135

Some bullshite and why I'm looking to do the split...that and the no stopovers

I've never actually redeemed a single ticket for that route but flown it several times through longer routing redemptions. Maybe a BA partner Avios redemption in addition to what amerikop suggested. I'd have to get on the a desktop to look in to that.

That is another thing - it almost never (think 99% of the times) makes sense to fly economy to Asia. There are either high fuel or you're better off paying cash because flights on EVA and Air China (both of which serve IAH) are so cheap. What are your dates?

With Oneworld (BA Avios) you are pretty much stuck with JAL or Cathay. You could do Cathay if you have any Alaska miles to avoid fuel. JAL will come with fuel. But see above what I said about Y redemptions to Asia.

I don't have exact dates, looking at two weeks in early December.

I've been searching December 1st, return 13th and have found 0 for CX on Qantas/BA/AS.

$817 on AA DFW-BKK. Do you have the Citi Prestige? That is 51,000 Citi TYP since all flights are marked AA although part is on CX. And that is a revenue ticket meaning you earn redeemable and elite qualifying miles. Best deal you will find.

I just booked my trip to Greece in September.

MSY-IAH-IST-ATH (stopover for 7 days) - Santorini (destination, 4 days) - ATH-MUC-IAH-MSY (Home)

Bit crazy routing but layovers not bad. Flight out is 17h total, Flight back is 22h. All Y.

60K + $137 x 2 for a total of 120K + $275 for GF and I. Transferred from Chase. Cash value of this itinerary is $4,100 giving me a value of 3.2cpp.

Will add a side trip to Zakynthos for 3-4 days when in Athens. Any suggestions how to get there?

I haven't hit Citi yet, just Chase and Amex.

I am ok with the surcharges for flying first/business on ANA. After hearing about the trip, my parents and a sister want to go but have been reluctant to get into the game. All they have are Amex platinum cards as i was able to convince them for that signup last fall.

Another positive out of this discussion is I am now an AU on my dad's 34 year old Visa!

I'd probably just fly there.

I spent 3 weeks on Rhodes back in 2009 and the ferries would be cool but take a long time, time you may not have, and I would guess you wouldn't have a ferry out of Athens.

All the flights to the islands route through Athens and they are all an hour long.

I think 3/4 days in Athens is good. Brettos Bar in the plaka is a place we stumbled on that was cool. I see it's now highly rated on tripadvisor
