Hope y'all have found some interest in the pics.
Today, I risked life and limb and tried out a scooter for the first time. I had read about some really distant beach on the island that is hard to find and get to, so I had to put fear and self preservation aside.
I took some pics on the way - Not pictured is the 4 or 5 foot snake that crossed my path leaving the beach.
Finally saw the sign!
Deliverance - Thailand Edition
Rode the brakes pretty hard down these hills and trying not to crash the scooter hitting the ruts.
I thought this guy had a nice spot.
Seems legit
The Payoff

I'm heading to some bar that doesn't even show up on Google maps but does return some images on facebook called PARAbar.
Should be a real hoot.

Just approved for Amex Gold Delta SkyMiles. 50k bonus miles offer after $1k spend in first 3 months and $50 statement credit after Delta purchase. $95 annual fee waived first year. Taking the family to Disney World in Feb so plan on buying our 3 airline tickets on the card to get the statement credit and saving a little money on the bag fees. Anyone have any other advice?
Update: So I put the Disney vacation on my card Dec 21 (was planning on paying cash but needed to spend 1k anyways to get the 50k bonus miles). Went to book my flights yesterday and was surprised to see the 50k miles already credited to my account because it said it'd take 6-8 weeks. Three flights to Orlando costs 60k miles so I bought 10k more miles for $350 and took care of my family's flights plus get the $50 statement credit for Delta purchase. Saved about $1k on the flights. First time doing anything like this so I'm pretty stoked about taking advantage of these credit card offers that you pros take advantage off all the time.

I'm here with my wife, but she came with me to see the spectacle.
What we know is we googled it and it wasn't expensive at all.
It's 1 AM now. Just back from Parabar. Great place where a lot of Thais hang out. Dude is a real character.

Not to be a dick but you just wasted a pile of miles unless you are flying to Disney from Hong Kong.

So glad I'm in the Thai lounge.
Phuket airport is in absolute high season shite show mode.
I'm not sure if I did something wrong but we had to go through security screening at 2 different points
Making me wary to go into Shanghai if immigration is that bad. Since its 40 degrees there I assume crowds will be lighter.
Should have about 5 or 6 hours to check it out.

I'm sitting on 170k avios. I'll probably burn (most of) them on a first class ticket to Paris. I've never flown first, and the additional avios cost is marginal.

The best bang for your buck with avios are domestic flights. I used 9,000 avios for a flight from Denver to Nashville.
Instead of screwing around with the online portal, I call the Avios support line and book flights over the phone. It costs $25 but it makes the process way easier. I just tell them the destination and date (or date window) and a nice British lady looks up the flights and books them - takes no more than 15 minutes.
That first class flight will be bad arse though

Very true... I just don't fly domestically very often.

I'm stoked, it should be a fun experience.

Can anyone tell me the logic of why Thai airways best business class seat is used (lie flat) for a 1 hour Phuket to Bangkok flight but their shitty lazy boy product from 1998 is used for ICN to Bangkok and Bangkok to Shanghai (and I'm sure many other routes)?
I mean, the lazy boy is better than cattle car but I don't get the logic at all.

Just spent the morning in Shanghai.
Wife bought some pearls for folks and we had lunch. Not bad and was enjoyable.
Rode the maglev which was fun. 301kph.
Internet being as it is here I can't really do too much with my phone.
