So applied for personal sw card for my wife. Instant approval with $25000 limit. Tried to apply for business and not immediate approval. Should I call or wait? If denied, how long until I can apply again. I just want companion pass by September or so.

With a business card I always recommend calling. They usually need to ask a few questions and verify information.

I was a bit surprised by how much closer the karsts were than photos gave them credit for.
Tomorrow we take a boat into them. Should be good stuff

I'm not familiar with karsts. Auto correct doesn't like the word either and I'm drunk so I'll google later.
But....wooohoo JAL just opened up first space on my flight to Tokyo in 2 weeks. Pretty fired up about upgrading from biz class. $500 champagne and $200 whisky. Yes please.

Japan airlines first class looks amazing...what rewards are you using?

American miles. I've got 3 more flights next year on JAL first class. Hoping it's as good as it looks.
67.5k one way to Asia 2.

They are the rock formations you see on the horizon. I had to use some humorous google searches to get the actual word for them.

Hell ya.
I really can't say enough how much easier it is to fly in business (or higher). It's a revelation.
Just took a quick drive of the island. Man, this place is pretty unspoiled and only an hour from Phuket airport (20 minutes by car, 30 minutes by speedboat). A real gem.

I got a personal card then got pending review on the business card. I called in within 5 minutes and got recommended for approval, just have to wait for address verification due to recent move
I have a "photography startup" as in my fiancee occasionally makes some money on the side.

Today we visited Koh Hong, Nok, Lading and Pak Bia on our private longtail.
As usual, my good pics weren't taken with my phone. I hate juggling devices and I already added a Gopro for this trip We'll review it's usefulness after this trip.
Snorkeling as expected isn't great around here but still an enjoyable day to see the scenery, even if busy with tourists. Tourists don't necessarily bother us though. Definitely considering coming back and if so, aim either to Ko Lipe or Ko Racha to snorkel/scuba the Similans. Yao Noi has been perfect for this trip though. For points purposes, Starwood is building here but with the Marriott takeover that isn't as exciting as it once was.
Last night was the New Years dinner. The DJ was a somewhat overweight Ian Darke sounding Brit who was hilarious. "I did not eat all the desserts. It is a vicious rumor." Everything Brits say is automatically better.
DJ in all his glory
Entering the lagoon at Koh Hong
More rocks and stuff

Follow up question on MS... Reading up on the Serve and it seems to very hit or miss
What is the downfall, aside from some higher fees, on using paypal to get your spend requirement? PayPaling money to a friend then the friend transferring to bank account and giving you the cash?
Secondly, what is the downfall, aside from fronting a company money, to overpaying a utility bill to get your spend in? (Paying $300 to Directv, when only $100 is due and having a statement credit in the future)
Not talking about doing it regularly, but as a short term means to get to a spend requirement and get the bonus?

Paypal are Nazis and will likely shut you down.

The credit card can and probably will claw back your bonus because you did not technically meet the spend requirements if the statement credit puts you under the $1,000 in first 3 months or whatever the requirement was.
This is why it is very important to spend a hundred or two hundred over, especially if you have a wife who buys clothes and returns them, as wives do.

Even if you do it once? 1k somewhere?
How would they know

Direct wouldn't credit back to the CC, it would be an acct credit for them. Just wouldn't have a Directv bill until whatever you overpaid was zero'd out over the next few months.

Ah, you said "statement credit" and I was thinking the credit statement.
I do what you're proposing all the time with my car insurance. I can pay it over 6 months but sometimes I'll do a big hunk to meet a spend requirement.
As for Paypal, they really are terrible by all accounts. They even shut down their reloadable cards on people who are trying to use them as intended.
And yes, I've read about them doing shutdowns after 1 attempt but it's always a YMMV situation with this sort of stuff.

I already pay 6months at a time to save the $100 or whatever over that period. Next one isn't due until April
I don't think I'll have any problem getting to the 4k spend over the 90 days, Id just like to get there quicker to ensure everything lines up and I know how much more I need in order to get the companion pass (e.g. Card Spend or Flight Booked)

If you use Amazon a lot just buy up your gift card balance with them.
You can do the same with gift card purchases at stores that sell ebay, restaurants you frequent, and things like that.

Hell, I could always just buy Amex or visa gift cards and slowly use them to pay for shite over the next few months.

We chose a shared cooking class and were paired up with BF/GF from Amsterdam. The girl is Dutch, the guy is from Wisconsin and met her while he attended U of Iowa and she was getting her LLM. Good folks.
Mina, who operates Mina's Cooking Class. Very nice lady. Sad story about her husband who died from alcohol abuse and she suffers from a bit of depression. They lived on Phuket when the tsunami happened and he died 2 years later. Great experience and she can cook, because let's be honest, she made it happen.
This device is to shave out coconuts.
Ingredients: Some stuff I've never seen before was in there.
Food porn activated:
Local Shrimp Pad Thai (#2 favorite)
Sweet/Sour Chicken I believe:
Local Caught Fresh Snapper with curry:
"Beef" Stir Fry: Favorite. Beef in quotes because this meat is actually from the water buffalo that are all over the island. Was incredible.
Got the recipes so hopefully can visit an Asian market and make something close to this.

Would love to take a trip like that, but I'd starve to death. I am the pickiest eater and none of that looks appetizing

The good thing is the restaurant attached to the villas actually makes pretty good western including a good cheeseburger.
So I alternate throughout the day.
I ate Indian food every day I was there back in August 2013. How many times have I had it since? 0
Moderation is key. However, I guarantee you would have destroyed that beef stir fry. Very western friendly taste with the spicy kick you can enjoy.
