Don't sign up for SW card unless it's at 50,000 points. They routinely offer 50k online a couple times a year and if I'm not mistaken, at the airport itself at those little kiosk hustles they are doing all the time.

I'd recommend the freedom/sapphire combo for obtaining Ultimate reward points which you can transfer to SW for flights.

If you want to go the SW card route, get the plus and premier 50k cards and work for the companion pass if you have a SO or someone similar you travel with. Right now is the perfect time to get that as it will last for 2016 and 17. Companion pass means every award or paid flight you get to add your companion free regardless of price. It's awesome.

ETA - the companion pass is obtained at 110k points which can be obtained through credit card spend on the 2 cards plus $6k spend.

$3.5k from Hanoi for 2

I'm a fan of convenience, but I'd need to be closer to $500/person to justify that.

I'd have to do some more research to find a group tour i think. Haven't done that yet. I just emailed the first tour i found on trip advisor.

Still a broke student. Flying to Panama this weekend, but spirit was like $300-$400 cheaper than any other flight.

Damn, ya that would be about where I'd be looking price wise .

The good thing about any guide while traveling... you hire a tout to keep the other touts away

Ive got two 50k pt offers with the Southwest Cards right now for a 2k spend... Seriously considering going at the Companion Pass. If I do it right, I would get the pass for 20 months or so.

The SO and I could take 4-5 nice trips on the points alone, plus after that, she would fly free with me wherever.

Hold up, the companion pass isnt a 1 time thing? They get to fly free whenever you are?

Any paid flight, your companion can fly for the taxes for the entire time you have the pass, so yes, multiple flights.

An award flight when you use Southwest points also counts as a paid flight, so that's why the pass is so crazy awesome.

From a monetary possible value basis, I don't know if there is any hotel or airline benefit that can compete with it. It could be $20,000 if you flew enough.

Yes...

For the rest of whatever year and the following year. You book your flight then call the companion hotline and tell them your companion is going and you pay a $10 fee or something.

So Teddy says I should go for it?

The two offers are a business and a personal right?

Nope, the premier and the plus. Both have 50k offers on then for 2k spend.
