You could also just buy an electronic gift card for yourself via Delta for $50 to activate that statement credit.
That's what I did for the offer I received.

If you are married, your spouse can get a card as well. Get two statement credits plus on an additional bag fee. 50k miles usually gets you a domestic flight.

would really like to take the wife to Europe for her 35th bday. We are 24 months out. Probably spend 20k a year on credit, with option to shift more spending that way possibly. Based out of NOLA. No real interest in Britain, france and/or Italy are primary interests. don't fly very often. I currently have a chase sapphire preferred joint account. What's my best options to get this trip paid for with points? And or where do I find out how?

Who has plans for an upcoming apporama in 2016? I'm thinking of getting a few in January but don't have any specific travel plans so it's difficult...I can always think Disney
I'm in Baton Rouge so I like going with Airlines local such as united, delta, american. I have Hilton Diamond status and Hyatt Diamond status...I have citi Hilton card but not a Hyatt card. Already have a freedom and sapphire so Chases 5/24 rule doesn't really impact me.
What are you guys doing?

I assume if you have a Sapphire Preferred that you have some Chase UR points accumulated?
There really is no such thing as "joint" account, so who signed up for it, you or her? Whomever the answer is, have the other person sign up for it too while the 50k points offer is out.
Whomever did sign up for it should go grab a Chase Freedom for its signup bonus, as those points can be transferred to the Sapphire. You can also transfer your wife's points to your account.
At a minimum you should be sitting at 65k Chase UR points or so, plus any miles you already have which is roundtrip to Europe in economy (requires 60k points for 1 person).
Come back if/when you need more points and we can discuss using other Chase products such as United and British Airways.

I was able to slip in IHG cards for my wife and I this past month.
That puts me at having had a CSP(closed), Freedom (open), United (closed), Ink Plus (Open, now Ink Cash), Ink Bold(open), Southwest (closed), IHG (just opened), since April 2013 from Chase.
So, I want to get United again since it will be 2 years in March 2016, but will wait a bit, maybe even until I pay my IHG fee at the end of the year before I get it again as I've pushed Chase hard.
I've also already done the 60k Delta Gold targeted offer, 1 Alaska Airlines, still have my SPG but not sure now much longer, Citi Premier, Citi American Air(closing when Citi Gold bonus hits), and Citi Double Cash.
So maybe Citi Prestige later this year as I'd probably use American to get to Grand Cayman for a Cuba trip. Amex, even the Every Day cards haven't pulled me in because every time I look at Membership Rewards I'm not too thrilled at the partner options.
My wife hasn't gotten every card I have so there is a little room to work there.

Help me understand redeeming airline miles for flights...
I'm trying to fly to Vegas in February on Delta. Tickets are looking like they are ~$500 round trip if I don't want to leave at the buttcrack of dawn. I assumed domestic tickets were 30,000 miles round trip. On delta.com, it is saying 50,000 miles for a normal economy ticket. Any idea why that is?

Delta nerfed their award seats, it's all based on supply/demand, pricing. No set miles, they just charge whatever they want and it can change. Kind of BS, have to be real flexible to find a good value with delta miles
Posted on 12/14/15 at 4:27 pm to TigerTatorTots
They all have their charts. I use miles for two reasons.
1) I want to fly business or first class on a longish flight.
2) I'm willing to fly economy and using miles gives me a better value than buying the tickets.
It's usually #1.

Last time I checked it was about twice that. I need to check again!

Not a whole lot for me. I'm retaining a lot of cards this year and will purge most of them before end of next year. So the end of 2016 / beginning of 2017 will probably be another app-o-rama.
I'm probably going to get the wife and I another Chase United card this summer.
I'm going to get both of us another Amex SPG business card this spring, to book 7 days in Disney right before the Marriott merger. You can book up to 15 months out I believe.
I'll probably get the Amex Platinum 100k offer at some point.
One of the Citi Thank you point cards are probably going to end up in my wallet at some point too.
I'm going to get the wife both of the SW cards in December 2016 so she can hit companion pass for 2017/2018 if that deal is still available.

Can someone explain to me the point of paying an annual fee on certain cards?
Why wouldn't one just get a card with no annual fee?
Do these cards have better rewards or something?

United is 25k RT.
SW is king for me out of MSY.
They offer non-stops all around the country which the big 3 almost guarantee a layover to get you past DFW/HOU/ATL.
No black out dates.
Free luggage.
You can often find directs for 5-10k points.
You just have to deal with a much larger & of the cattle community.
It's worth it to me given the reasons above.

1.Chase Ultimate reward products are much harder to be approved for these days for people with several cards. Cancelling the card means you might not be able to get another.
2. They offer an incentive to keep. e.g. free night at hotel or points.
3. Yes, they have better rewards normally.
4. I generally don't pay too many annual fees. Maybe 2-4/year on average between my me and my wife.

What property would you be staying at in Disney? Do you have status with Marriott/Starwood?
Also, how do you typically fill out business applications? (Income related)

The SPG Swan/Dolphin. They are both on property right next door to each other. Category 4. 5 nights for 40k points. Great redemption value for rooms that typically book out for > $300.
I have gold with SPG, but it's been pretty meh really and I won't have it when I visit the property unless I get the Amex Plat before.

I fill it out honestly
Applying for a business card with no revenue does not mean a denial. My wife was going to start a photography business and has opened up business lines. Now, she never did, but she honestly had intentions to, but I knew she never would. Many start ups will do so to keep track of business expenses separately. I wouldn't lie on the app.
You just use your SSN as a sole proprietorship where it asks for the EIN.

Interesting, I may try this at some point on a quick trip.

Haha, fair enough. I have a business still set up but I don't use it any longer.

Yea after searching a bit, I noticed SW is the only nonstop offer and it us by far the cheapest out of any price I could find. $375 RT
ETA: How is SW's reward card and is the sign up offer right now high compared to past offers?
