Some Citigroup credit-card customers are getting a stark warning from the bank: Go paperless or lose access to your online account.

Citi’s policy is one of the harshest yet for the holdouts. The effort is part of a beta program rolled out to a small number of customers who access accounts online but still get paper statements, a Citigroup representative said.

A business attempting to cut an unnecessary cost is commie now? Interesting.

My accounts are with Chase and I've been paperless since the option was made available years ago.

One day my doctor complained about "all this computerized shite we gotta learn." I told him I'm in favor of anything that gets rid of paper; I don't know how some doctors still do it.

Save millions on wasted paper and postage

If there’s no paper trail you’ll have no way to dispute them if they ever decide to pull some shenanigans. They could charge ten grand to you, alter their internal logs, and you couldn’t prove shite. You could even take periodic pictures of your account amount, but in today’s deepfake/ai world no judge/jury would believe you over them.

Just as an example of what could happen.

What a simplistic, false belief.

Or you could have a fee for paper. I would personally drop Citi if I had then but I don't.

Paper, both in currency and records is going to be forced out. You will have one power in control over both in digital form.

And you can’t fake paper?

I'm in the send me a paper bill every month camp. I keep my monthly statements for tax purposes. I would rather the greedy CC company spend money on ink and paper than me

I wonder if they’re going to keep sending their junk mail.

Thats rich.

My Citi account statements have been paperless for as long as I can remember. But that doesn’t stop them from sending me solicitations in the mail constantly about either applying for a different card or balance transfer offers

100%. I went paperless with Capital One years ago and something happened where I had to get statements past the 18 mths or so they allow online. They wanted me to pay $2.00 a page for them to print out my paper statements. Luckily I have a banker that I have a good relationship with who printed them for free but to find the issue it was hundreds of pages. That banks told me never to go paperless and just file the statements every month. I have ever since.

Have no issue with this. You can always log in and print out what you want.

You can download and/or print them.

If I did that the paper, ink, and time is on my dime.

If they mail it to me for free all I need to do is open it

In March I pull out the file folder with 12 CC statements in it and figure out most of my yearly business expenses

Dear heart, if a multinational financial institution wanted to commit fraud, including a massive internal cover up, to frick you over, your little pieces of paper wouldn't do a damned thing.
