The wife called me yesterday when she got home and said there was a notice that the post office had a certified letter waiting for us from the LA Dept of Revenue. My first thought, was great i am being audited.
Turns out i had applied for the alternate fuel tax credit last year one day late and it took them 9 months to send a letter letting me know it was denied. You have to love the state.

I got one also. How can they pay some people, deny others, and not make those they paid refund their money back to the state/ Any OT lawyers want to do a class action suit?

They came after me for months because I didn't pay income taxes for 2008 when I was living in Georgia at the time.
We'd send them information explaining this and sent a copy of my lease and tax return. They'd still send nasty letters demanding proof that an didn't live and work in the state at the time. Their right hand seems disconnected from their left hand.
The whole department reminds me of broken soda machine.

They once lost my tax return and sent me a bill like 3 years later.. I filed on their site too!
When I went and looked on their site it was there and they owed me like 79 dollars. I called them up and told them they owed ME money, it was just so small I never noticed I didnt get it.. Got a 79 check a month later.
