Tanking right now. Yall think these lead cables are the end of ATT or is this a buying opportunity?

It’s been tanking since I can remember. Looks attractive bc of dividend, but carries more debt than just about any other company in the world

Don’t fall for it. Been burned by it so many times now. I’m done.

It’s been a value trap as long as I can remember.

I own verizon and starting to worry that i now own another ATT that will drop into the teens and never return to 30. Maybe dumping this soon even with the div.

I'd rather own a 4% yield stock with some growth potential.

What’s the alternative investment? Just Amazon basically?
Clearly we’ll have cell phones and other devices for which they provide internet for a subset of customers aside from cell phones so if these two are dogs, what is the alternative telecom play?

Compare the SP500 or Berkshire Hathaway to T over the last 30 years. Yikes.

Verizon C band spectrum is gonna become available for rural and suburban areas in Dec of this year.
I really think you will start to see a fundamental shift in how home internet is consumed. Fixed wireless access is going to take the place of cabled internet in 10 years
Not a question of if but when
Verizon coverage area is best in the country…I am not betting against them long term
Att is totally different story due to their high debt load and major investment into content as opposed to delivery of content

Price is rolled back to 1989, but probably still a value trap.
If they cut the dividend look out below.
T and VZ struggle now.
Too much risk of additional costs due to dealing with lead issue, and potential litigation.

Why not just buy bonds at 5% if looking at these?

There are so many other areas that are better than telecom. If you are a gluten for punishment and insist, T-Mobile. They’re showing some signs of fatigue, but still better than Verizon or ATT.

Being that I’m not a glutton for punishment, I’d go with none of the above for $100. But yes, I’d agree that if one absolutely has to roll the dice, T-Mobile is also the one I’d go with (and close my eyes afterward).
A poster kept arguing last year that “AT&T isn’t going anywhere… won’t go out of business!”. While likely true, that’s one of the very worst reasons to buy any stock.

Yeah i remember him. I believe he also didnt know they were cutting the div as well. He was angry people were questioning AT&T. Well if he still holding this after the div cut and the stock dive then that's on him.

This is what I can't wrap my head around, the world revolves around mobile and internet. T and vz, along with tmus are the 3 national mobile providers and are also involved in home internet.
I don't understand how T and vz can perform so poorly. (T i get due to failed ventures into DirecTV and such)

I don't even use wireless 2 feet from the router.

I allowed emotion to make me maintain a position in T.
Should have sold it all years ago.
