Finally had to let it go. It was $400 when I got the card and I traveled quite a bit. Now, I don’t travel or spend enough to make almost $700 worth my while. I called and they tried to steer me to another card, but without Centurion Lounge access, why bother. They wouldn’t lower the fee.

Bummer.

Loved the feel of that card in my hand and lots of the perks that came with it.

Didn’t give you option to buy down with points?

It’s bullshite centurion for guest will cost starting next year.

I’ll likely keep next year when renewal comes up. As much as I’m flying, the 5x pts along with Clear and Airline credit is about a wash. Wish they’d do prime membership instead of Walmart plus, although have saved a decent amount in gas with it.

I love amex but wouldn't pay $700/month if I didn't get the yearly fee waived

I'm keeping mind. They gave me $150 credit to offset the cost. Just ask.

I signed up for it last year as I got a 125k MR signup bonus. I've earned another 60k bonus MR from the 10x points on small biz/restaurants. That 10x bonus was supposed to be only 6 months but I'm still getting it.

I won't renew as I don't travel enough to justify it without the bonus.

It's only worth it if you are traveling a lot IME.

$695
- CLEAR ($189 but call it $190)
- $240 entertainment credit (Disney/Peacock etc)
- $200 Uber/Eats credit
- $100 Saks credit (somewhat debatable as I wouldn't otherwise shop there)
= $730

I use all those, so I wring out the fee.

Then you have
$200 airline credit but not as easy as Chase credit to use.
Walmart+
Lounge Access
Hilton and Marriott status
Equinox

It's an annoying coupon book.

My wife has a Plat as well so that makes it harder to get there. Will cancel her Gold though as we don't need two of those.

It has gotten expensive but if you ever use a lounge you can see why. People pay it. Lounges always packed.

I get my fee waved most years based on company spending.

I always use the Uber Credits but the airline fee is hard to use.

100% love that new rule. Lounges were getting way too crowded. Should ban kids too.

It covers WiFi and food/drink on plane.

The way they describe the fee is very ambiguous but every United WiFi / drink purchase I’ve made gets credited back to me

Then limit it to 1 guest per person… Not charge $50 or whatever it will be for the first guess. Stupid if you’re traveling with significant other to have to pay for them to get in with you. Although, think there is an exemption if you spend so much in a year, but still bullshite.

ETA: Just looked, the spend is 75k in a year. fricking ridiculous
