I keep hearing that flat screens and Hi Def are priced really low right now. My TV is conventional 1998 Panasonic.

Three problems...

a. I've got a recessed area for the TV built into the wall so working behind the set is difficult when messing with wires.

b. I've got direct TV and Tivo connections.

c. I HATE installing stuff. I don't like reading directions and I know I'll get frustrated and my day will be ruined.

Someone told me that you can hire someone to pick your TV up from the store..they'll deliver it, connect it. Show you how it operates and then haul your old TV off.

How would one find this service?

Thanks. I'll give them a visit tomorrow. They're right next door to my Starbucks.

Black Friday is less than 2 weeks away. You might want to wait for that and then use Geek Squad or similar to do the installation. We bought a nice TV last Black Friday from Newegg and the price was great (actually bought it on Thanksgiving Day since Newegg starts their sale then).

Funny Zach, I had a 1998 tv that I replaced this year.
Best thing I ever did.
I got a 47 inch 1080p, 240 hz with all the bells and whistles for $688. And a 4 year warranty for $100 more.
I can see if a guy's wife in the stands needs to shave her legs or not.
I also canned Cox cable, switched to Directv, staged it all at roughly the same time, and had them do it just the way i wanted for no charge.
You will not move from in front of your tv for two weeks.

Thanks for the info. I'll scout out some TVs at Best Buy this week and then maybe wait till black friday.

Wife and I don't really watch that much TV. We average about 2 hours a day. But when I go into homes of friends or businesses that have HD I can tell the difference and would like to have one.

Get your TV on Black Friday; that is, the Friday after Thanksgiving.
Look online for prices, and Best Buy should match the online price. Print it out and bring it to them. I bought a freezer from Best Buy and they matched the best internet price. I'm not sure if newegg is a company they will match, but they will match Abe of Maine's, so they should match Newegg's too.

They will not match OneCall, NewEgg, TigerDirect or Amazon, which all have considerably better pricing than Worst Buy.

yes

Also don't let Best Buy trick you into buying $100 HDMI cables from them. Buy that shite online for $10

Sam's offers a very fair price on TV mounts, but no one can beat Monoprice for TV mounts either!

I don't work for them, but I buy all my accessories from them.

I could be wrong but I think Best Buy has mostly the same deal they do for black Friday weeks before and after. I got a LCD last year around the same time and they really wasn't a price difference.

That's right. I bought mine a week or so after black Friday and I got a pretty good deal. I didn't have to deal with the lines either. There's always deals on the internet and in-store...you just have to catch them at the right time.

No offense but I'd be really, really pissed off if you asked me to come watch a game at your house and this is what I had to watch.

1. I made a mistake. The Panasonic was my previous TV. My current 1998 is a Sony Trinitron.

2. I went to Best Buy and there were no 300 buck TVs like I heard about. The 46 inch flat screen hi defs start at 550.

So, does anyone think they'll come down on Black Fri? And, if so, will they go back up after Black Fri?

The wife said, "Go ahead and buy it for 550. That's how much I spent on songs for my ipod last year."
