Do they though? Every time one of these threads pop up, even alumni turn their nose up at the thought of donating to their alma mater.
Their refusal is usually based on whatever outrage is the hot topic of the day.
Nowadays it is, "They won't get one red cent of my money til that liberal SJW fricktard F.King Alexander is gone. He cost us Jimbo"

If the school wasn’t run like a complete shitshow, I’d be glad to help. I’ve given for years, but the ways things are trending the last few years I’d consider it a waste of money.
Also seeing shite like this occurring doesn’t help

That's horrible. Has nothing to do with the university's endowment though.

It absolutely does. If the size of the endowment is a reflection of the public image of the university, the image of the university's official alumni association has some factor in that as well.

LSU Alumni Association doesn't manage or raise funds for the University's Endowment. The LSU Foundation does.

LSU does have a low financial endowment but it makes up for it by having a large manly endowment.
Posted on 1/31/19 at 4:07 pm to boxcarbarney
I can assure you TAF is working on a huge project to raise $1billion dollars as we speak

Let’s see... more seats in the stadium.... pay to park... I got it! Do like the Falcons did, cut prices on everything, open stadium early, give profit to endowment!

Let me put it another way; the endowment is not run by the university. shite like embezzling employees does not help the university's image. That's why its good to get the info out there that
1. the university does not run the foundation
2. university employees cannot access endowment funds
3. the returns on a larger endowment would make LSU a better place.
Because some shite-sack bastard steals money from the Alumni Association does not mean the same shite-sack bastard can access endowment funds.

One complaint that I also had when donating is that it seems like 50 organizations within the university are trying to claw money, and each is seemingly going in their own direction. Would also be beneficial if they came up with a tangible plan/vision, rather than just shaking a can.

I don't disagree. LSU is horrible at fundraising. They openly admit it. There is a huge disconnect between the Foundation and the university's alumni.
For example, the LSU Foundation facebook page only has 1300 followers.

That is pitifully low
The frick out of here
But that's a very low bar.....

I’d consider donating if I thought LSU would use the resources wisely; they won’t. I do donate a small bit directly to the Business School each year, because I at least see the tangible value in that.
The guy in this thread that said he has foregone vacations to donate to the foundation is just plain stupid.

That's horrible. Has nothing to do with the university's endowment though.
In fact, when I make my annual donation the AA's Scholarship Fund the confirmation I receive says "LSU Foundation."

Nope. If you donate to the AA, you are not donating to the Foundation. However, at a high level, I’d advise everyone to do their research to how much money the AA gives back to LSU, Foundation, and TAF (yes TAF gives back to LSU). The reality is all of this money, while given to different entities, all goes back to LSU.
So that $800K number is highly misleading. I promise you we have much more than that coming in.

Dear LSU:
Remember how shitty you were to me about that phony Parking ticket back in 87? I remember. Kindly frick off.
Signed ,
Your humble Pimpness
LSU 89
PS- My Kids at LSU assure me you still suck. I already send you enough money anyhow. I’d rather buy a new big screen than fund your budding Lesbian Dance Therapy Department anyway. Oh, and eat me.

Nope. If you donate to the AA, you are not donating to the Foundation.
I said it is my understanding that the Alumni Association's Scholarship Fund is now reported as part of the LSU Foundation's total endowment. That's what I was told by someone who works at the Alumni Association.
I also donate annually to the Foundation.
