I have had thoughts about what kind of psychological effect Notre Dame winning the title would have on Kelly because I truly believe the move is based on him having top players but then again, them getting their arse whooped by an SEC team in the playoff again would solidify his decision to him even more.

Yep was just thinking this watching OSU getting blasted. Bama will be toast later, and ND will end up in the playoffs.

Nope. Freeman will get all the credit for stepping up as a "young 35 year old African-American getting the much deserved head coaching job". If they somehow win, he will get all the credit (and it will be somewhat deserved) and Kelly will be ignored.
But they will indeed get beat and since Freeman isn't getting the blame (nor should he), they will blame Kelly with the heat of a thousand suns for leaving a playoff team for the almighty dollar thereby costing them and himself a possible national championship.
And while I love the Kelly hire, you can not look at this situation objectively and deny that some of the heat he will receive will be deserved.
