"Man, you can find an excuse for just about anything can't you!"
I wasn't making excuses, genius.
I was referring to someone earlier in the thread bringing up a what-if. He looked at a game winning TD pass and seemed upset as in "what if the pass had been incomplete."
I used my what -ifs to show how we MIGHT have had a chance to win in each of my instances.
Try to keep up instead of charging in not know what you are talking about. Thanks.

What you have going on at Bama is the perfect storm of a good coach combined with a University and boosters who will pay/do anything to have a successful football team and historical name recognition
I think you hit on a point here. Saban is relevant in the he brought this kind of top to bottom organization to LSU. I don't see that now. Recruits say LSU stops calling when we actually ARE still recruiting them.
Not loving Bama, but the truth is they are more than just the coach. It is a well oiled football machine where no stone is Left unturned at any level in what they can LEGALLY do. (then there are the crimson F-150s)
Facilities, visits, mailouts, student volunteers following every minute move on a recruit. Heck, the visit recruits with a biz jet. LSU borrows a prop plane from an ambulance company.
Those little things make a difference. I always think back to the total mishandling of the guard that went to AU that wanted here so bad but we jacked him over for Kiel.
Its not just on the field stuff.

Yes, let's not be overly insulting and abusive towards Coach Miles. He doesn't deserve that, and, we are better than that.
Your view quoted above is reasonable.
IMHO, the view that it would be best to let next season play out with Miles at the helm is also reasonable. Coach Miles has a great recruiting class coming in and it is reasonable to hold the opinion that he should be given the chance to coach this incoming class for at least one season.

He has to have an epiphany in terms of offensive philosophy for any of this to matter though. based on his presser, I'd like to think he has had this.

Dude, I feel the EXACT same way. There's a glimmer of hope inside me. A small, diaphanous (see O-T vocab thread) glimmer, but it IS there.

I love les. I love that he is our coach. Our fans have been spoiled and saban's success at bama doesnt help. Saban will probably be remembered as one of the greatest coaches of the modern era with Urban.
That being said, what fans are upset about is there is no plan B with Les. The national championship game is a prime example. It was obvious that JJ had no chance in the 1st quarter, by half time everyone was expecting the switch to Lee. If any of us would have been the coach the switch would have been made and if that didnt work we would have gone to Met and if that didnt work i would have thrown sheppard back there. We would have gone down fighting and throwing gimmicks, trick plays or whatever. May not have worked but at least it would have been tried.

If the administration gets their ducks in a row and has a pretty strong sense that they can get someone in here that will be a clear upgrade to Les, then I would say pull the trigger.
I'm not one of those that thinks he needs to be gone no matter what. The right person has to be willing to take the job. I would hope they don't can Les without having a good lead on an excellent replacement just because fans are unhappy.

I can't help but try to be optimistic. If this team loses out, I might porn bomb the SEC rant.

SEC titles for any team in the SEC West in most years require a W against the team from Tuscaloosa. If you can't beat Bama, there will be no trip to Atlanta. And no trip to Atlanta usually means no trip to the NC or the playoffs. Though Les has had a good record against winning teams in his tenure, he does struggle in the games that count every year. Ole Miss, MS State, Arkansas and Auburn have had wins against a LSU team that should have easily won. Too often we seem to play down to the level of competition on the other side of the ball.
Les has repeatedly scored excellent recruiting classes and there can be little argument against the level of talent we have on both sides of the ball year in and year out. I can only imagine what a hungry and eager coach would be capable of accomplishing given the talent resources at LSU every year.
Combine all of the above with the poor game plans, lousy, conservative play calling, clock management issues, off field incidents and Les' easy-going never get pissed off about losing attitude and it's no wonder that there is a big level of frustration in the fan base. And until Les decides to really get after his players and demand better, that he will gets his nose out of the offensive play calling and he increases his level of intensity and quits "settling" for quality losses (if there is such a thing), LSU will never be relevant again.
The continued comparison to Saban and Bama is because they are relevant every year with same amount of talent that LSU has every year. If they can do it, why can't LSU? Until Les is able to correct the issues and "really" be relevant every year, LSU will continue to be left out of the SEC Championship and the NC / playoff picture. And as great a guy as LES is, I don't see this trend changing. I'd rather be relevant every few years and potentially win a NC than to continue to have "quality" winning seasons every year. Excuse me for thinking a quality winning season included a SEC Championship and a shot at the NC.

I don't care to predict what the W/L record will be for next season, but, I will repeat my personal opinion, which is: the current head coach no longer provides the best chance of LSU football success into the coming years. IMHO, LSU football is not optimally-coached, and has not been optimally-coached for some years.
