To be honest I'm surprised at how...optimistic most of you are? I know most of our fans are sick of the SEC and sick of hearing about mighty LSU. Our team feels disrespected and will be be going into this game with a chip on their shoulder with something to prove.

Do we seriously only have 1200 active users on this site now? I thought for sure this thread would break the DV record

Well you did manage to set a downvote record. That's something you can hang your horns on. Surely wont be a win.

Hey, I understand that was your opinion this is mine:

This Longhorn puss should go find his A&M buddies and eat a bag of dicks!

I really believe the LSU defense will skull drag Texas all day long. This game will Not be close.

Nice positive post for the Texas fan base. I get the home field advantage, offensive minded coach, All-American QB, etc. You basically pointed out all the things that will help Texas feel like they can compete for 4 quarters. Eventually the crowd simmers down and the players just play. That's where Texas is going to struggle and everyone knows it. LSU's defense is going to make Sam beat us through the air and that's going to be a big problem for UT. The LSU offense just needs to keep attacking and eventually it will get ugly. Texas is back. LSU is back as well. LSU 41 TEXAS 17.....
Geaux Tigers!!!!!

You’re probably right that UT is back. It looks like a very good, well coached team. I think they will be a factor in the conference this year.
Against LSU in 97 degree temperatures, depth may prove to be the X factor. I think the first half will be a daunting challenge for the Tigers, but late in the game depth and conditioning will be paramount.
I feel good about that factor for the Bayou Bengals. Do you have the same confidence in the Longhorns?

You will see first hand what aTm has been finding out for years: pay your gas station attendant referees or you have no chance. Defense? Austin hasn't had one of those for years, and you don't now either..............not in the Pop Warner league you play in. Your team will feel the speed and physicality like it hasn't in a long time. Have your tissues ready, you and the burnt-out orange will need them.

Damn WacoHorn, I actually think you might have the most downvotes ever on a single thread here on TD!

I like your moxie, but you are the typical Texan from what I can see, always putting mouth in gear before mind in gear! But that isn't that difficult to understand, taxing the only brain cell born with sometimes can be difficult we understand! So I read your post and please allow me to retort!

1. - Regarding playing in hostile environments! BAW let me tell you what, we play in the SEC, SEC, SEC every damn away game is hostile! Go to Tuscaloosa or Auburn and play in those stadiums and you will see what hostile is!

2. I 100% agree with you, I don't think Texas is going to get blown out! Anytime you are playing a top ten team in their house look for it to be a hard fought game which is what I personally expect!

3. Ok let's settle this! When you ask other fans, alumni, players and students that "don't" have a horse in this race who the "real' DBU is 95% are going to say LSU! We are DBU!

In regards to young DB's we don't re-build our secondary EVER we just re-load, next man up! And second and most importantly our back-end isn't young! Here are the starters Delpit - Junior - All American, Fulton - Junior pre-season All-American pick, Stephens - Junior "will have a ton of pre-season awards, and last Stingley - Freshman. 3 of the 4 are starters! There is NO youth there! Go after Stingley see what happens! Last time a team tried that crap on a true freshman of ours, they made him an All-American his name "Greedy Williams" Our strongest, deepest and most EXPERIENCED unit on our entire team is our "defensive backfield" so stop watching fake news, they are giving you info that is wrong!

And Ehlinger will not be throwing for 300yds on us, if you would like to make a side bet on that I will be more than happy to step up to the plate! What about you big boy!

4. You are correct we did have a lot of animosity towards Herman, and you are correct he used us to force you guys to make a move and fire Charlie Strong. Anytime you feel like you have been tricked, we were, you develop a little hate for the person not being upfront!

So I am going to put the question a little differently to you than your, "Herman is going to show you why you should have paid him!"

When you are going to get into a fight, which fighter would you take "ohhh I want to show you why I am worth so much" or "you lying, cheating frickhead we had a deal and you screwed me in the national press and around the college football world, I want a piece of you in a bad way!"

Personally I am going to take the motivated fighter that has a little payback and hate in their heart for their opponent! But you stick with your "empty" hat and see how they does for you in this brawl!

5. Yes it was Georgia Southern and they aren't truly a match for a top 10 team, but look what our defense did! Ga Sou is a triple option team that averaged 345yds per game on the ground last year. Our defense held them to 73 rushing yds!

While Texas played an equally inferior and some might say more inferior as Ga Sou went 10-3 last year and won their conference where La Tech went 8-5 and didn't win their conference. While we held Ga Sou to under 100yds offense for the entire game! You fricktards gave up 300yds passing to a team that much more inferior than you! You know all they do is pass, and you couldn't stop the pass!

You guys are fricked because you will have no clue what we are going to do! There isn't any tape of our new offense unless you watch last week and the entire Saints portfolio!!!

but here is what you didn't touch on that will make this difference in this game!

We are returning 16 starters from a 10-3 team last year that won a New Years 6 bowl. Texas is only returning 8 starters from a 10-3 team that won a New Years 6 bowl.

If you ask 100 college football coaches who would they pick if all they knew was that both teams were top ten teams this year, both teams were 10-3 last year and won NY6 bowls but one team had 16 returners starting and the other only 8!

I would bet that 90 out of 100 coaches pick the team with the 16 starters returning, without knowing any names! Would you like to know why? Because it is time tested, experience usually beats inexperience, it is as simple as that!

My prediction

LSU 28
UT 21
