Nobody wants Raymond back. And he just lost their star CB of this class.

For me it wasn't losing Corey, it's I'm not sure we got a better option to replace him.

I would take Ron Cooper

Corey Raymond rode Ron Coopers coattails.

I think we want somebody who is a competent coach, and a highly capable and productive recruiter.
That's not Corey Raymond, at least as we now know him.
But it does not seem to be anybody currently on staff, either.

People have a had time appreciating the good and accepting the bad with certain coaches/players.
Corey did a FANTASTIC job here for a long time, but his last few years here were pretty rough. His recruiting started to really tail off, he didnt have a firm grasp on his room and we started having questionable transfers having to play...BK saw the warning signs there. Decided to move on. Now a very questionable replacement in Steeples, but I think Raymond has proven thus far at UF his best years are behind him and sometimes that just happens to guys who had it good.
PLENTY of coaches out there can have a lot of success then tail off towards the end of their careers, we've only seen it at LSU with 2 of our previous head coaches...can appreciate what they did but also realize it was time to move on in the end and they simply didnt have it any more.

Actually I wouldn’t mind having Raymond back, we need a talent upgrade in the secondary. A good defensive coordinator will cover up any flaws he might have in coaching.

They post that bullshite daily here. It’s mind-boggling. The past is the past. He was good to great for a long run, but we need to leave him in the past and move on.

I would not mind getting Chevis Jackson in the building as a corner/DB Coach though.

This is the answer.

I think he would do a good job developing our young secondary. But if we hire him, he really needs to be paired with an experienced Safeties coach who is a lockdown recruiter. We have no clue if Jackson will be as good as Steeples or Cooks, much less better. Hopefully he’s a natural, but he just doesn’t have a track record at this level yet.
