Also Ferentz went to the Orange Bowl after the 02 season and they partied in miami and had fun. They got blown out by USC. Ever since then Ferentz is all business with bowl games. It's only a vacation for the fans and the band. And it shows in Iowa's bowl record since then.
Ferentz sucks and is very overpaid.

annual list of top party schools. They listed Iowa as #1.
I see this and I think of that line uttered by Booger in Revenge or the Nerds - "you mu's sure can party."
Seriously, I give you credit for showing up on here, Expo. This crowd with the poor grammar, punctuation, arrogance and negative attitudes can be overbearing.
A buddy of mine, a life long Hawkeye fan/graduate took great pride in presenting me with a gift following that 2004 game - a framed picture of "the catch." Arrogant, prick!
Good luck to you and Geaux Tigers.

Don't you think you are underselling them just a little considering Russell went on to become the #1 pick in the NFL draft.. ?

Sir. I shall call you out after the game either accepting defeat or trolling your arse off of TG completely. It will be the latter.

If you came here looking for signs of intelligent life...well...you might have better luck on Mars.
Also, I'm looking forward to the game. I'm staying at a friends an hour or so from Tampa so I won't be around for much pre or post game action, but I have a few Iowa grad buddies where I live now...they are good folks and a hell of a lot of fun.

While the penalties were real and should have been called, the bigger issues were this:
1) for the only time in his life Saban couldn't have given a crap about the outcome of the game. He had already sealed his deal with the Dolphins and was actually jovial before the game. I attended the last practice in Orlando and saw a 180 degree difference from the Saban that I saw at other practices. Even when LSU was playing a "rent a win" game he was driven, intense, screaming & cussing at players. But at that last practice, he hardly said anything other than to assistant coaches. And then it was in a normal tone of voice. He was joking with players during practice and speaking to parents on the sidelines & smiling and taking pics with fans after practice. Not the norm.
2) Saban decided to play 3 quarterbacks in the bowl game. He never did that. He played Randall, who was horrible as usual into the 3rd qtr. THen Flynn (Freshman)played the rest of the 3rd. He barely saw the field all year until then. Jamarcus Russell played beginning 12:41 in 4th and threw 12 of 15 for 128 yards and 2 TDs. He played for 2 possessions and threw 2 TDs. He was the guy and would have dominated if he had more PT. Game should have never been in doubt if Saban had been playing to win. But at that stage, he didn't care. Smiling all the way to the Blockbuster bank in Miami.
BTW, four very knowledgeable Iowa fans set behind me and the family. They knew all the players & stats. But it was curious when JaMarcus came in I mentioned that now you would see a real canon. Their reply was that he would be working in some convenience store within a few years while I contended that he would be drafted highly. I guess they were right. Jamarcus was an NFL bust and might be working in a Circle K now but he still signed that $35,000,000 contract. Heard he owns a string of Circle K's all over the country including Iowa City. Buy your dip and smokes and PBR there boys and help a poor NFL bust out!

Iowa Fan, please excuse some of the childish responses here. I don't know why some our of fans can't take constructive comments from opposing teams.
Not making excuses, but I was there in 2005 and the team and fans were down from the departure of Saban to the Dolphins. I stayed at the team hotel and you could just feel it.
On the game winning play, we were playing man to man but one knucklehead decided to play zone which left his man wide open. The rest is history and we lost plain and simple. Certainly that was an exciting win for you. We've experienced that too with the Blue Grass Miracle in 2002 and the extra play we were given by Tennessee in Death Valley in 2010.
If any Tiger fans think we can just show up and win then they have quickly forgotten how Clemson's defensive front manhandled our O line in the Chick Fil A bowl. Our defense let us down when we could have won the game by stopping Tajh Boyd and company on 4th and 18.
We better be ready to play as we have only won one bowl game in the last 4 seasons.
