I would and I've been saying this all year especially after the auburn game. Sure we were awful then but both were and harris is the only one that actually showed flashes of great play this year.

My counter argument would be if we kept losing after auburn the board would still melt.

We've seen it before. Lee got shat on. Time for JJ. He starts losing, back on the Lee train. Would have been the same shite.

Let's not act like we walk out of Houston with a win. Harris was shell shocked. We were getting beat because our run d sucked. Jennings brought us back while Harris shat his pants.

I want to give Harris a start, but if he started that game and lost. Everyone would have wanted Jennings.

Counter to your counter... After the players we lost to the draft over the past 3 years we knew this was a rebuilding year, we expected the lumps or losses... But now we wasted a learning season on a qb who has already peaked and the staff knew Jennings cieling was no where near Harris..

Now when we recruit another Juco I would say it's a justified mistake made by the coaching regime...

AU is on Harris.... How the f*** is AU on Harris they scored 42 points... Tell me when LSU in General has scored over 42 in sec play this year that game was not just on harris... You think if Jennings starts we win NO WE DONT... The only way he wins is when the D locks the other team down end of story

Yes. We sucked this year anyway, so why didn't we develop a QB for next year? Harris is the more talented individual. Seems like very poor foresight, not playing him. I'm done with CLM, nevertheless.

Absolutely, we werent playing for titles this year. Would have def done it after the auburn loss.

this line of thinking is so frustrating.

Getting wins, especially on the road, is important for young players. You always play to win.

When BOTH guys were recruited, they were BOTH told 'come in and compete, learn your responsibilities, demonstrate mastery on the practice field, and if YOU are the best...YOU will play'

So, NOW the idea is to tell one of them 'you've done all of those things...but, we want to "prepare for the future" so, you don't get what you earned'

silliness

BH is just a true freshman. He has plenty of time to develop and EARN his playing time. I suspect he will overtake Jennings over the off season, spring practice, fall practice. But, if Jennings has earned the role, I would be very bothered if he were supplanted just for a flyer on potential.

BTW, I think the only additional Loss LSU would likely have had BH started from start to finish is Wisconsin (simply because first game, and Jennings did complete some passes in that one). But, that is besides the point.

Or was BH in no way ready to start at all at any point this season and putting him in there would have only meant irreparable psychological damage?

Playing a young qb is a double edged sword. If he is almost ready it might be the final the kick in the pants to make him develop, but on the other hand it could break him and then we are really screwed. The coaches felt like AJ gave us the better chance to win and they were the only ones to see the 2 qbs in practice. Recent history tells us that sitting a qb their first year works better than not.

QBS that sat or were resshirted their first season:
1. Winston
2. JFF
3. AJ McCarron
4. Aaron Murray
5. Mettenberger
6. Marcus Mariota
7. All the "good" LSU qbs since 1999

BS! Everyone, like they are now, would be calling for Miles's head on a platter! You play to win games, not lose to prepare anyone.

+1
We would have lost to Wisconsin badly. Then people would have been bitching about Les throwing him out there too soon.

If Les had played Harris from day one and with Harris not being ready
UW-loss
SHST-W
ULM-W
MSU-L
NMST-W
Auburn-L
UF-L
UK-W
OM-L
Bama-L
Arky-W
A&M-L

We would not be going to any bowl and more than likely have screwed up another qb

Hindsight is 20/20. For the people saying we should have started BH all year, that's an easier opinion to conclude because AJ has shown little improvement. But what would you have said if the same results would have happened with BH starting and showing little to no improvement. Same argument but just a different name to insert.

The fact is we are not in practice or the locker room. We don't know WTF is really going on. Some on here think CLM plays AJ because he is loyal and stubborn??? He and the staff plays the players they THINK give them the best chance to win, period!!! They may not always be right, but to think they play the wrong guy on purpose is laughable. And if by some small chance that did happen...... This would be the most epic fail!!!

Sure, if that was a real thing. The truth is that we'd have a couple more losses and Harris would be WORSE next year.

The problem with Harris was his work ethic and sense of entitlement. That would have gotten worse if the coaches rewarded it with playing time.
