hardly anyone I talk to has anything good to say about the beautiful game

It’s a fruity, boring game played by small, dainty people who are basically marathon runners. The only response that soccer people have is that “it’s the most popular game in the world”, when the only reason it’s popular worldwide in largely poor countries is because you can play it at a high level if you’re malnourished and you don’t need any equipment other than a ball. frick soccer

If they have LSU on their chest, I'll support it.

Even college volleyball is much more popular than college soccer. I just find it slow and boring, and it isn't like LSU needs to add another sport that loses money.

Louisiana is in the dark ages when it comes to soccer compared to other regions in the country. Louisiana’s population, which is declining, is also too small (as well lacks the interest) to develop youth soccer on par with larger markets. Best soccer in U.S. is clustered around major markets (I.e. So Cal, DMV, NYC metro area - NJ, Dallas, etc). LA’s SME is baseball and football.

The only soccer I will watch is the soccer with a kid from my family. I didn't even watch Olympic soccer. I don't like the sport. It is boring and somehow whiny.

That being said, I won't disparage an LSU soccer team. If LSU can make it viable, fine.

We can afford to add a women's sport to offset. Or we could drop a men's sport. And we already have the facilities.

We don't have nearby opponents though. Same reason we can't do hockey.

Not athletic enough? He can always play baseball. You know, lots of breaks, timeouts, standing around.

It would be a massive drain on the programs funding to add two non revenue generating sports.

Without getting into the viability or potential support at LSU, I’m curious to know how so many Big 10 and ACC schools can make it work within the the Title IX framework, or even schools like Kentucky, South Carolina, Marshall, or West Virginia.

Stop trying to make south Louisiana like Latin America or Europe

I’m almost 40 and for my whole life I’ve been hearing how soccer is ‘about to take over and really catch on around here’

It just isn’t a mainstream sport and never will be around here

Soccer is over by college. If you’re not on to a better situation by 14-15, you weren’t good enough. 13 is really when you should be selected up…
