So being one of the top four teams in college football and losing is comparable to being a 9 seed in NCAAT and losing in the first round of the tournament?

Awesome, got it.

What possibility do NCAA tournament teams and BCS playoff teams have in common?

Get it now?

Winning the NIT means you are what... the #69th best team in the country. Losing in the first round means you are 33-64th in the country. Why the hell would you brag about being 69th?

considering EVERY team in the NCAA tournament has a chance to win the national championship with many of the lower seeds making the final four before. Its actually a very good comparison.

Anyone dumb enough to say NIT deserves to never be listened to again. Frankly the exposure from having your name in the brackets is better for recruiting than going in and saying ...Yeah we won the Nitty this year......

this. I can actually remember a lot of teams that have lost in the tourney in the first round through the years than I can NIT winners.

NO Brainer! Winning a national NIT championship is a MAJOR accomplishment - getting knocked out of NCAA's before sweet sixteen is for losers - just my opinion.

That's like saying you'd rather win the chick-fil a bowl than lose in the first game of the college football playoff.

no, its not. If you win the NIT, you have won 5 games. Your guys got to practice for 4 more games than LSU actually got to practice for. You would have to practice dealing with various schemes and players.

All the games are televised. Your final 4 in the NIT is in NYC, which is home to first class public league and Catholic league high school ball and right across the Hudson from the gold mine that is north Jersey Catholic league ball.
Being in NYC/North Jersey is like having a bowl game in New Orleans or Miami. You are being noticed in the media by the best high school players.

Its not just one game. So the person saying its like winning the chik-fil-A bowl vs losing in the 4 team playoff is wrong. Its like winning the ATL chick-fil-a, then the meineke car care bowl, then the poulan chain saw bowl (do they still have that?) , then the armed services bowl and then the el paso sun bowl week after week, all on ESPN or one of the lesser ESPN channels for the first couple if you are not a 1 seed, but LSU would have been a one seed over Old Dominion.
and losing in the first round in the 8/9 game is NOT like losing in the 4 team football playoff. Nowhere close. You would need to be talking elite 8 to approach the glamour of the 4 team football playoff, and unless you are a hoops guy over football, even the final four.

Except that LSU lost the first game in the tournament.

They're just a distant memory that LSU super fans have to hold onto until next season when they're gonna win it all!!

No one but the teams in those bowl games, and teh NIT watch those games. Just b/c they are on tv doesn't mean anyone gives a shite about them.

Everyone watched LSU blow it to NC State, b/c everyone who fills out a bracket has an interest in it.

No one has an interest in the NIT, or crappy bowl games for that matter, except the teams that are playing in them.

Yeah it's a nice accomplishment to win the NIT, but no one really cares, and every college athlete would tell you they'd rather get in the Big Dance than win the NIT.

I'd rather win the Maui invitational than the NIT.

The fact that you made the NIT is a failure of a season. It's a participation ribbon that we so gladly give to our kids for just trying hard and participating, while getting their arse kicked.
