The goal this weekend isn't to beat Tulane, it's to beat 3 teams.

Starting Skenes or even Floyd simply is not a gamble, it's a guarantee. You can win game 3 pitching Hurd against a team playing their 4th game. Especially if Hurd struggles (hoping he stays in current form) you will be facing weak pitching and we will score. Why take any risks the whole weekend, just throw your best and win.

IMO you go Hurd, hopefully he eats up innings and keeps your bullpen intact for the rest of the weekend. I don't see it as a gamble to start him. A gamble would be starting Money or Little. If they don't produce, your going to your bullpen early. Our bullpen this year has been atrocious outside a select few arms.

So start Hurd against 40 loss Tulane and burn your best bullpen arm likely for the remainder of the regional? And it’s the “only move?”

How is that a gamble? It's the best move.

I stand by what I said in another thread. If your #3 starter can't beat the #4 seed...what makes you think your #3 can beat a #2 or #3 seed later on in the tourney?

It would be more of a gamble to pitch him against one of the higher seeds.

Been reviewing their stats and schedule.
Id start Money. Have Dutton and Collins in mid/ Close.

We should have no need to roll out our top 4 arms to win this game.

I can't see a situation where you want to win it all, and start ayybody but MONEY...We are not U-LaLa, or Nipples ST...We play to win it all here. Have Herd ready... But we can't burn either 1 or 2 on Tulane. Game 2 is PS, etc...

I agree. Throw Money out there. He’s going to give up 2 HR, but he should give you solid innings the rest of the time.

Copper, he throws strikes. That’s all you should need.

I feel very confident, if not certain, Hurd is starting versus Tulane.

I could be convinced (and somewhat see the logic) to start Money, but it’s really not necessary when you have Hurd and also taking into account you don’t want to go through a ton of arms in Game1 when you don’t know how the rest of the weekend will play out.

Under no circumstances do you pitch Skenes or Floyd Game1, so I’m not even sure why some are suggesting that. There’s no way that happens.

All that said, we can overthink this to death til Friday, but it’s gonna be Hurd in Game1 as it should be. I guess the only real conversation is do you go Hurd or Johnny Wholestaff, and I think even that conversation the answer is clear IMO.
