SEC West
LSU
Texas
Ole Miss
Oklahoma
Texas A&M
Arkansas
Miss State
Missouri

SEC East
Alabama
Georgia
Tennessee
Florida
Auburn
South Carolina
Kentucky
Vanderbilt

Two 8-team divisions...you play the other seven teams in your division plus two teams from other division.

Thoughts? It would certainly do away with the convoluted tie-breaker system currently in place...

Move Missouri to the Big XII and put Oklahoma State in SEC West.

I don't like anything about having 16 teams in a conference. What's the point of the conference if you can only travel to some locations only once in an 8-year span? It would be even less than that if you had a permanent opponent in the other division.

I think I would be in favor of it but I don't want to lose the Bama game. That is my most anticipated game every year even though we always seem to play like shite.

ETA: Honestly, I just want a 12 team conference like we had. OU, UT, A&M and Mizzou can kick rocks, and I would not be upset with Arkansas leaving the conference either.

all of the old guard SEC teams are in the east. LSU has played them for 100 years.

I prefer the current format over this one

Playing Bama, Florida, and Auburn so seldomly would suck

I love it. That would make the SEC Championship game mean a little more. The best from the West plays the best from the East.

Neither do I. That’s why I’d like us to stop playing it every year.

Gaining Missouri but losing alabama as a permanent opponent sounds good for the win / loss column but sucks from an excitement standpoint.

I like watching LSU play in big games.

I’ll be excited when it’s the end of the year and we’re 11-1 and playoff bound. I’m tired of being excited before games and then pissed after 10 minutes.

I preferred having two divisions but I don’t want to lose the annual game with Alabama.

Against. We certainly should go to a 9 team schedule, but we should play everyone home and away in no more than a 4 year time span. Amazes me at the number of people who hate being part of the entire SEC and just want a scheduling agreement with a separate conference.

But it does echo our origins. For years the SEC was a group of separate cliques that didn't play the same number of conference games and in some instances rarely played each other.

6 months ago I was the most pro division person. I hope we never go back to divisions. It has added a lot more excitement for sure.

For. I think we have to go back to geography at some point. This split makes the most sense, by far.

Or pods of four like they've talked about.

West (UT, AM, OU, MO)
Central (LSU, OM, MSt, Ark)
North (UK, TN, So Car, Vandy)
East (Bama, Aub, UGA, Fla)

Could shake up the east/north ones some.

I just don't see that happening, get ready for expansion in a big way.

What if we add Ok St., Clemson and then bring back Tulane and Ga Tech into the fold.

Eventually we add Miami and Florida State as well.

Who knows...

If the SEC Championship Game is going to stay, with the current 12 team playoff format, then Divisions are a necessity, IMO.

There needs to be some sort of schedule balancing to get the participants in a Conference Championship game, and Divisions seem to be the only way to get that balance.
