That’s not the matchup I would tune in to see

LSU D vs Iowa O would receive a TV-MA rating for mature, explicit content

Daniels and Thomas aren’t playing in the bowl. Nabers is only playing until he has the record. There won’t be a skull dragging.

Not likely now that Bama win the SEC. If there are no SEC teams in the playoffs, it will push us further down the pecking order.

LSU and ND have the same records and are actually the best match for a bowl game…..Extras like coaching history included. The committees love that kind of drama.

It has to do with the Orange Bowl bid.

“Erick Smith anticipates that LSU will face Notre Dame in the ReliaQuest Bowl on Jan. 1 in Tampa, Florida. If that happens, it'll be the first time LSU coach Brian Kelly will face Notre Dame since leaving South Bend for Baton Rouge in Dec. of 2021.”

Jes’ sayin’.

Edit for quotes from USA Today.

Our defense would make their offense look like the 85 bears.

Playing LSU’s defense for 60 minutes would move Iowa’s offense forward by 10 years

That was before the conference championship games, though. That same list of bowl projections had Georgia in the Sugar Bowl (CFP semifinals). If Bama and UGA get left out of the CFP, that means every SEC team below them gets knocked down a rung in the bowl tie-ins.

That’s not to say that LSU can’t still get matched up with ND, but it’s considerably less likely if FSU wins and the CFP committee leaves Bama out.
