Is this something new? It flowed when I was there for our last appearance.

I understand sports2's issue, but they just want people to use their site and not local news sites to get these videos. I like the idea of having access to such a large collection of videos in one place. Of course they're going to limit competition.

How can local news media posting highlights hurt the SEC? I seriously doubt it hurts their profits. So what's the driver for all of this?

When the SEC starts signing big money contracts, those companies paying the big bucks are demanding protection--simple as that.

How will they enforce the 72 hour rule across the entire SEC area?

Next thing, they will be cracking down on those youtube videos that people are making for LSU.

It's idiotic. The genie can't be put back in the bottle. The video will always be on the 'net, only now it won't come from "journalists," it will come from bloggers, etc.

This is opening a huge can of worms... A public university and such... if this reality is as bad as I think it is my stance on NOT paying these athletes is showing signs of cracking. I'm all for capitalism but now I'm beginning to think the student athletes who actually make college athletics even possible should maybe get some of this pie.

Does this mean the SEC will prevent sports fans from posting the pictures they take on social network sites like Facebook? Probably not, Smith said.

What would they do to you if it DID mean you couldn't put the pics on FB????

But it does mean that the SEC wants the ability to have full control of the memories that these events can generate

THIS really sucks.

you are missing the point but I guess you are for Universal Health Care as well.

The fact that you think government taking over healthcare and a non-government entity not wanting to give away its property for free fall into the same category makes me question your political awareness. I don't think "communist" was always synonymous with "thing I don't like."

Sounds to me this is far from final. I wouldn't go jumping off a cliff just yet.

They're not going to tell local news stations that they can't play clips of old games when doing a story on a certain player/coach. And they're not going to forbid local news stations from runnning highlights of Saturdays game on the following Tuesday night. That just won't happen.

XOS is just trying to make the point that they're the boss and they own everything. Once that point is made, everything will be back to normal IMO. This is a non-story until they start enforcing the new rules, which they won't.

" For example, the new SEC rules also place restrictions on what ticket-holders can do while at the game.

A summary printed on the back of each ticket (likely starting next year with football, since tickets for this season already have been distributed) forbids fans from taking photographs or sharing accounts or descriptions of the event."

This is B.S. Will they through you out for taking a picture. Technically this should end game threads.

Why? Most people participating in game threads aren't at the game and can dow what they want. People who are at the game... well, its pretty damn unenforceable.

THAT would be ridiculous ... you mean, I wouldn't be able to describe being at any game? No description of the NC games ... or any road trip or ANYTHING? Completely ridiculous if true.

I hope you're right. This whole thing sucks.

Sure, there will be new practice video to show some weeks... but when it's closed - no LSU video on any newscast from Wednesday until the next game is played Saturday? Awful.

Also, the SEC is limiting credentials to full-time salaried employees. No stringers/freelancers/part-timers allowed. I was hoping to pick up a few stringer/freelance gigs covering LSU this season, but according to policy, I won't be welcome.

You make Obama haters look stupid. You may want to look up the word "communist" in the dictionary. It has nothing to do with protecting property rights. God you're an idiot.

Wow...I won't be able to post how many people left the Tulane game at half time?
