is this where we compare him to les miles? did i step in a time machine to 2008? that argument is so old and ignorant now

The difference is that Miles took over a 9-3 team and posted 3 straight 11 win seasons after Saban had only reached 11 wins once in his 5 year tenure. Miles won a NC in his 3rd year, lost his starting QB, went 8-5 but consistently improved the next 3 seasons in returning to the BCS title game.

Coker took over a team that should have been in the NC the year before, won a NC in his 1st year with a team another coach built and the program got progressively 6 straight seasons.

Dinardo wasn't bad. He failed at hiring good coordinators and assistant coaches

yes he was...and arrogant besides ignorant.
BTW, you said it, he ALSO failed to hire good coordinators, WHICH WAS HIS JOB.

I don't think people realize how awful Dinardo really was. From his failures in the "kick" game, gameplanning via 1985 Colorado game film to some really bizarre ideas like only dressing out players who "had something on the line" for games. I remember San Jose State's traveling squad had more players on their sideline than we did. Total morale killer.

I just can't think of Dinardo being that bad, other than sticking with Tepper.

Curley, Tepper were awful. Crowton got bad after 2007 but he did win us the NC.

Of course, all lists like this are very subjective. Many of these names are questionable. Though Chizik and Coker won titles, they left their schools after their programs went way downhill. But I do agree that Hallman was one of the worst.

In the 1950's at Kentucky the Coaching Staff was;

Blanton Collier Head Coach
Don Shula Assistant
Chuck Knox Assistant
Howard Snellenberger Assistant
Bill Arnsparger Assistant

At the time this was called the worse Coaching Staff that was ever assembled.

I know Gerry Faust was bad. But I don't believe he belongs on this list. In regards to him it was ND who made maybe the worst hire in college history. I mean "really" you gonna hire a high school coach to be the head man at ND? He may have been the worst coach ever but at best he was unprepared for such a drastic jump in jobs. There is no way in hell he could be ready for that.

Frank Solich was fired at nebraska after going 9-3 there is no way he is a bad coach. Tyrone Willingham purposely drove the washington program into the ground.
