these threads are always funny. people think they can read minds. they know what all the coaches are thinking and know what lsu brass are going to do.
it's also silly to think that whatever results a coach is currently achieving is precisely what they would do if at lsu. they could be better or worse, who knows? there's no way to know if they would be better than pm too.

quote:if you look at the overall investment vandy is making into the sport in relation to his cws results, i'm not sure underachieving is an accurate assessment of corbin.
If anyone has underachieved more than Mainieri, it's Corbin. He has had an embarrassment of riches at Vandy

Are we the only program in the country without a salary hitting coach?
I answered this the last time you asked
Arkansas
Ole Miss
Coastal Carolina
If I felt like doing the research I’m sure there are plenty more

Corbin is excellent, but he's not leaving Vandy. Turned us down in 2007.

It just amazes me how many so called "baseball fans" come out the fricking woodwork and continue to post shite they know nothing about. LSU cannot and will not get the top coach in baseball. It's just not happening. That alone should tell you where this sport stands in 2019.

He also went 26-3 in the SEC
And LOST in the Supers how would these retards react to that

The best options, that would be at least somewhat realatic are Tim Tadlocke from Texas Tech, and Dan Mcconell from Louisville. I think we’d have a much better shot at Mconnell, considering Texas Tech is Tadlocke’s Alma Mater. I say you go after Mconnell and don’t look back. He would put us where we need to be every year.

Again this isn’t football, Vandy can put money into baseball

Agree. I think Nashville life might suit him better. This may sound crazy, but right now I would take Cannizaro with a solid assistant. I think Andy may learned his lesson and would be ready for the job. Not my first choice but at this point i would take him.

College baseball isn’t college football. These guys care more about stability than a paycheck. No one is leaving a top school to come to LSU who is probably the only school in the country that would fire a coach in 4-5 years for simply not winning in Omaha. LSU isn’t okay with just making it there. You have to win there too.
I think this is often overlooked but very true. LSU is one a handful of schools that making a super regional isn’t good enough. That’s a lot of pressure and the money isn’t that much better.
Personally I like CPM. I think he is a great coach and I don’t believe there are too many better than him in the college level. This season has been a massive disappointment but I would much rather stick with a proven coach and try to upgrade assistants than I would try to press the reset button.

Also you realize that Corbin has squandered more talent than any coach in the country right? He had one of the best teams ever to play in college baseball and went 0-2 in regionals. Calling him an upgrade over CPM is just being disingenuous.

What about Matt Heath? Former College of Charleston coach.
Not qualified for the job. Also his blowup during a game on YouTube should be disqualifying.

over the last 9 years, corbin has 3 cws appearances, a nc and an 11-6 record. only one school has been better. so if he's "squandering talent" he's doing a bad job of it

we're not getting a coach from a private school

We’re not going to drop millions to buyout a generally respected coach in a sport that makes just a small profit. You can thank Alleva for his ridiculous contract extensions.
This.
After this season Maineri still has 5 years left on a very lucrative contract (compared to the rest of college baseball coaches). I just can't see the new AD eating a big buyout just yet. Certainly the last two seasons have been disappointing relative to program expectations, but it's not like LSU has completely bottomed out since 2017. If for nothing else because of the contract Maineri will likely get at least 2 more seasons to "turn things around".
I don't know if there is quite enough financial benefit to getting a new coach right now vs. the several million LSU would have to pay to do it. (5 mill buyout + salary for new staff).
