With Utah out is the coveted 1 spot really that important?

If OU wins tomorrow they're probably as dangerous as anyone and much more of a threat than Utah

Everyone on the planet knew this before the Utah game which makes you wonder why they were ahead of OU in the first place

It's less important I would agree, but I think I would take OU over Clemson. I think Clemson's linemen are superior to OU.

It was never going to be Utah if OU wins

Perhaps you're right

But certainly the gap between Clemson and OU is much smaller than the gap between Clemson and Utah

Is it though? Is this another eye test?

OU could and should already have 3 losses.

Their offense is more dangerous

A defensive team like Utah wouldn't have had a prayer against LSU

Look at the 4 year average recruiting rankings

LINK

LSU is 3, OU is 4, and Utah is 40

Utah doesn't have the same caliber of athletes

Utah is a better matchup for us than OU for sure. But Clemson has offensive firepower of their own to go with a good defense. I think we'd get off to a better start against OU than Clemson and it would be like the Florida/Bama/Texas games where we just pull away at the end. Clemson is the much tougher matchup so it's still important imo.

But you are right, playing OU isnt as big of an advantage as playing Utah so it does lose a bit of its meaning.

Hell yes, the match up is just the icing on the cake, it's about RESPECT. It's about beating the juggernaut bama, it's about scheduling a non conference opponent that isn't a gimme, it's about hearing the strengths of your opponents before every saturday, and coming out victorious, ie. UT is back, Bama is unstoppable, florida is dbu, look what A&M did to us last year, blah blah fing blah.

R E S P E C T

that's what the #1 slot says, Burrow, Alexander, CEH, the trenches, the receivers, the offense, the defense (some of you mofo's owe Aranda an apology), the coaches, they earned it.

Anyone who doesn't think so can meet me at culvers. (we don't have sonic up here)

Seems like we play pretty well with a chip on our shoulder too though. I do think that we should be ranked #1.

Baylor could be number 4. Think about that for a minute.

Same issue I have with a team like Wisconsin to seemingly always make their way into the top 10 and then getting blown out when they play any team with decent athletes on it.

Just means they're well coached teams

Eventually they'll run into someone with superior athletes (and those teams typically have pretty solid coaching as well) and they'll get boat raced

No way in hell do I want to face Jalen Hurts over Trevor Lawrence. I support Aranda but he has had some issues with running QBs. At the end of the day, it should not matter, but I want Clemson over Oklahoma.

OU seems to be a lot like our LSU team, dominated by offense and quite suspect on defense.

This is probably moot as I believe the upstart Baylor Bears will defeat Oklahoma in AT&T this afternoon.

Given our D’s struggles with a mobile QB this year, Jalen Hurts’ legs definitely more of a challenge than Utah.

Besides Ole Miss this season, who else? I’ll hang up and listen.

Bs. Not as big a gap as you think. There is a huge drop-off to #4, regardless who it is.

OU can't win in the playoffs.

LSU wants OU, not Clemson.
