With NIL running CFB, who are the big LSU donors that will be called on to carry the load?

I assume lawyer Gordon McKernan, who is already heavily involved in NIL, will continue his support, but I think we all know it's going to take a lot more donors to step up to the plate and help carry the load. Anyone know of any other big money supporters that have stepped up or LSU has approached about NIL?

What does this matter to you? Some may not want to be known. There will be donors that need to protect business assets across other states thus in other college towns.

I hate to brag, but I give $10 every month. But y'all don't tell anyone. I prefer to remain anonymous

The Oaks Society is growing. Still has a long way to go but is making progress. The people running it are very active in searching for members and also selling the next donor level. I have been to a few events. Don't quote me but I think a rep told me there are less than 500 members. It's new so hopefully people with the means are catching on.

You would be amazed at how many people who are die hard fans, and can afford to give LSU large sums of money don't do so because they live out of state and are not aware of the perks of being a member. I heard there are perks for out of state donors in the Oaks....like they have no reason to get season tickets but want to attend away games near their residence, or gets hooked up for one home game a year.

I have a friend who makes big bucks in the northeast, is a die hard fan, and has never donated to TAF. This reminds me to bring it up the next time we talk.

Most want to remain anonymous when it comes to NIL not everybody’s got the look at me attitude that Gordon McKernan has, but if you really wanna know, look at the advertising around Tiger Stadium and other sports complexes on campus or the names on Tiger Stadium at the gates

Gordon has the look at me attitude because he’s using NIL the way it’s supposed to used. He’s paying these players to represent his business in commercials and other areas.

i’m not saying what he’s doing is wrong, Raising Cane‘s is doing the same thing, but I do know for a fact because I work for one company that most don’t want the spotlight of funding NIL

With all the tv revenue pouring in, and revenue sharing coming soon; why are boosters being counted on more and more?

Maybe they could do without all these shadow coaches, the large staffs for the sports that lose money and all the bureaucrats in the department?

It is so much better if all fans give a little. 10/mo for 200000 fans would be massive for football.
You don’t need “big donors” to carry the load for everything.

There are alot and as long as Louisiana's economy amd BR in general grows, there will be more money for LSU. You can do your part too. If not by donating money, just doing business with companies that are Louisiana or BR based and have an affiliation to LSU, if you can. That includes franchises.

this is what happened when Kelly put down 1MM and challenged fans to match. I have no problem LSU asking for money. I donated extra during that drive.

People piss away $50/month or more on coffee. Think about what that would do if just 50000 people donated every month or as a 1 time to NIL.

Honestly they need to tap into the NFL market.

See if Patrick Peterson, Joe Burrow, Justin Jefferson, Jamar Chase etc will donate.

Obviously the Bollinger Shipping cat donates and there's some other monsters but I don't think we even pursue our NFL alumni, I think Tyrann is the only I can remember that donated heavily.

But Shaq, Burrow, Jefferson (Chase soon) etc all are 100+ million dollar guys

My biggest concern is all the big boys have extremely wealthy donors that are eager to contribute now, but the price of NIL is going to go up every year, so what happens when the well runs dry for some schools? Are donors going to continue giving when lets say a couple of donors agree to pay 1M to get a player and that player jumps ship after one year and they get zero return on the money invested.
