it sounds like Jones is a much better recruiter than his predecessor.
Trent was high brow
Jones is desperado.
So far not much to show for his desperado act.
I dont hold it against him. he will need a two year running start to get local premier wing guys interested, and to get really big rebounders that are 2nd tier nationally, but big enough to stand up to the real deal inside players that KY and Florida will bring to the table, year in year out, interested.

I think we will be in the 7-9 to 9-7 range

I appreciate someone who takes the other side in an arguement just to help clarify what the truth is, but this is a bit of a stretch.
UCI - While they will be returning all their starters, they went 12-20 last season and did not beat a single team that finished in the top 170 in the pomeroy rankings (very credible computer ranking)
Boise also finished 13-17 last season, lose a starter and didn't beat any decent teams outside Colorado St. Finished Mountain West play 3-11
UCSB - While they were very good last season and finished with a 20 win season they lose their top 3 starters. Should be a good game, but very winnable for the Tigers.
Seton Hall - Should be a solid team, but they do lose their top 2 starters.
Marquette - Lost their top 2 players from a team that we beat last season. Though we will definitely be big underdogs in this game it just shows nothing is impossible.

One funny stat is Jalen Courtney, who may spend some time playing center, will be the leading 3pt% returning player. He was 10-27 last year for 37%.

We play 18 conference games this year.

As much grief as he gets here, I think Stringer could be good in a running offense.
I agree. He could be LSU's "Microwave" off the bench, or at least maybe a two-slice toaster
In the most simplistic sense, LSU is going to have to shoot well from the outside to compete/win. Stringer is very streaky. Hopefully Camouche and Morgan can be consistent threats. Also, Courtney has shown some ability to knock down and open 3. The three pointer is really the great equalizer in CBB. I think there's going to be games where this team wins or at least scares some teams that they really shouldn't be close to. Conversely, there are going to be games where the 3's don't fall and they get blown out or beat by someone they have no business losing to. Either way, I expect them to be more exciting than boring, lifeless ball we have had to watch for the last 3 years.

I think it is possible for us to get to 10 SEC wins, but it will take a few great finishes in games that are close.

I'm not counting on too much for this season, but I do know I'll see a more exciting team. Looking forward to the season and I pray JJ is able to convince Martin to stay in BR.

smarter basketball and a more exciting offense is all I ask for in year 1.
This and a solid recruiting class.

To those who don't want to talk hoops, it's this simple: skip over the thread.
I was thinking our lineup might be JOB, one of Ludwig/Courtney, and Morgan, Coleman and Hickey, with Hammink first off the bench. I'm really hoping Courtney and Ludwig can show improvement this year and at least be somewhat of a decent factor in the offensive game. If nothing else, they give us a little size down low that could help on the boards and defensively, with better coaching.
Bubba, your report on Courtney's strong offseason is promising and the first I've read about it. Where did you hear that? It would be a big lift if he can assert himself more this coming season.
Looks like we'll be very perimeter oriented offensively, which means we'll probably be really streaky and inconsistent shooting the ball. I'm thinking we need to play up tempo transition and defend like crazy. Concerned about foul trouble and injury in the low post.
But what I'm looking for are better fundamentals, such as improved shot selection, taking care of the ball, pressuring the ball defensively on the perimeter and not allowing easy dribble penetration. I'm really interested to see the effect Jones' coaching has on the team's mental understanding of the game.

Carmouche was a nice late addition but I really vacant see us better than about 6-12ish

.Football school has 3 starters and 2 regular contributors in the NBA right now

That is exactly what I think as well. We'll have a good shot to win most home games, but also got stuck with a super tough draw on who we play twice.
