With LSU losing 30 players, but landing No. 1 TP group, what's a realistic goal for 2025?

With 11 players entering the NFL draft and 19 hitting the portal, there's no question LSU has a lot of holes to fill, but it looks like CBK and the staff have done an excellent job with bringing in a lot of talented players via the portal.

With that being said, I think making the playoffs is an absolute must and winning at least one game is very realistic. I would love to see LSU make a strong run at the NC, but until the entire defense improves and we can overcome the losses on the OL, I think winning a NC is a bit of a long shot.

What are your thoughts?

Getting to the playoff, hopefully winning a game or two there.

If things really come together a championship is not out of question. Look how far ND went this season after losing to Northern Illinois. CFB is just wide open. They got some of the best matchups for them in the playoffs and rode it all the way to the title game.

The ole CBK Special: 9-3

Definitely going to be a “WTF” loss in there as CBK gives us one every year

Would love to start off the season with a win against Clemson. If that happens I could easily see us taking off and making the CFP and would love to see us make the semifinals which could be realistic depending on defensive progression.

If the last 3 years has taught me anything, it's that I should expect to lose against Clemson and then probably 2 more SEC games and fall just shy of the playoffs based on what happened to the 3 loss SEC teams this year.

All we care about is how proud you are that you don’t watch the NFL anymore. Just tell us about that again

Seriously really not sure we should play anyone worth a shite ooc

We already have to play a rough sec schedule and there’s no reward for playing tough games out of your conference anymore.

OL and DBs will be the X-factors. The (lower case) x-factors will be: a) can we run the ball, b) stretch the field vertically, c) Nuss reducing ints, and d) BK needs to prove he can navigate an entire SEC schedule.

As for schedule, OM and Bama (and OU?) will be breaking in new QBs. USCe lost like 30 seniors. They will have a huge roster turnover. The tougher games (UF, USCe, and A&M) are at home.

Props to BK for the recruiting class and the portal class. A+ on both accounts.

I expect us to make the playoffs but lose a game along the way. I don't think winning it all is far-fetched.

This is really what I'm looking for. Going to be extremely tough on the road game 1 at Clemson, but this is key to have that magical season. Win this game, and the margin for error goes up in conference play. Lose this game, you basically only have 1 more mulligan and any loss after that is non-playoffs.

Losing those 30 is not near as bad as it sounds because most of those 30 players were never going to amount to anything at LSU or they were huge disappointments and needed to leave (Sage Ryan).

If Kelly can figure out how to win an opening game (highly unlikely) Then LSU should be good enough in 25 to at least get a playoff spot.

Playoffs, most national pundits are already putting this team in the top 10 for preseason.

I think that we may have seen what nuss needs to do to be successful. Every game that he just took what the defense gave him ,he was incredible. Most games he had a legit deep threat that was healthy he was great, like against Oklahoma. The receivers coming in and coming back are deep threats for the most part. They will do some self scouting over the off season and should have a better plan on how to make nuss most effective, that ,along with his added experience should make the offense great again, we should be better on offense this season.

The freshman do and the portal guys on defense will help the defense for sure. As long as the o line is average we should make the playoff

The Clemson game, right or wrong, will set the narrative for the season. Lose and it will be SOS and the CBK hot seat meter will peg after wk 1.
Win and it says there clearly is something different about this season and we press ahead with confidence and momentum. I want to hear CBK after that game start by saying ‘that is how we are supposed to play LSU FB on the road vs a top 10 team, who has questions?’

I really think this team has the talent to win a natty. Kelly hasn't had a team this good on paper (imo) in his entire career.
As others have stated, it starts on August 30th in Clemson, South Carolina.
You've improved pretty much every position but OL and Tight End through the portal and added solid players to those groups too.
Gotta go win.
