Winds gusting 35 to 40 mph - Will normally easy fly balls and pop-ups be an adventure?

Playing outfield and infield for pop-ups will be rough today. Hope our guys are ready as can be. Warmup before game will be important. Look at this analysis from MLB for examples on balls that were hit with a lot of wind but not nearly as much as what may be blowing this evening in Omaha.

quote:
Last August, Patrick Wisdom hit a ball very hard (103.1 mph), very high (53-degree launch angle) on a very windy day (15 mph, gusting to 22 mph when he hit it). Since wind can be very different at different elevations, Wisdom hitting this one straight up caught a lot of breeze, costing this one 111 feet of distance and forcing Toronto fielders to adjust by more than 50 feet laterally.

If 82 feet sounds like a whole lot of feet, well, we’re guessing the rain on the camera lens will help the eye test match the data. At the time of the pitch, the wind was gusting at 27 mph.

Do we look like Arkansas outfielders?

It doesn’t feel like gusts. It feels like a constant 35 mph wind.

this suks for us. Inclement weather always benefits the underdog.

I know wind can be very different even in close proximity, but the latest report from the Omaha airport showed 30 mph gusting to 47 mph. And the airport is only 3 miles away from Charles Schwab.

One of the best outfielders in all of baseball, PCA, misplayed a ball today because of wind.

Is the wind blowing out or in

Right to left to start the game, but expected to shift to straight in from RF in later innings

The wind here is retarded

Now for a second imagine its 15° outside right now. That's Omaha in the winter

Rally Ferret will help us conquer the wind.

At least this team hasn’t been entirely dependent on the long-ball this season to score runs.

No reason to belly ache about it, homers can still be hit to left by a few hitters on our team
