The SEC would then have to contradict itself, again, to continue this myopic fight that will eventually lead to its own demise as a conference as we know it.
There are numerous programs throughout the country with international pros on their roster, including in the SEC.
Some of the players have court rulings making them "eligible" to play, as is the case for several players across the country. Those guys didn't "declare" for the draft nor sign a NBA contract.
LSU has a freshman pitcher on the baseball roster who was drafted by Cleveland in the second round but chose not to sign an MLB contract. No eligibility issues per the SEC. LSU basketball is trying roster a player who was drafted by Cleveland in the second round but chose not to sign a NBA contract. Sorry, you can't play.
Per usual, the conferences/NCAA lack forethought, and they are trying to change things on the fly because they consistently lose in court (that's not just because of "homecooking". It's because the NCAA and conferences have poor legal arguments because they continue to try to pretend football and basketball are just "amateur sports" rather than billion dollar marketplaces).

Technically, it's not LSU's fight. It's Luis's. LSU can't stop him from moving forward. However, his case is the one I would concede. Keeping the others ineligible are fights that will require a lot hypocrisy and deferential treatment by the NCAA and SEC. Those are stronger cases

While technically correct, it became LSU's fight when the SEC threatened us with their fake explusion crap last time.
This is not worth Round 2 with Sankey. Especially considering Luis chose to forego his remaining elibility. It's a bullshite case and he shouldn't be eligible.
