The BK contract gets the most hate which it was a huge mess up, but the MM one in length and what he put in it was insane especially for a mid major coach.
Then you have the contract he gave Bo P which was crazy considering we weren’t trying to beat anyone else out for him.
Scott was very good at lighting our money on fire

WDS- Wade Derangement Syndrome
It's alive and well!
I can't see how grown men act this way, but I have a feeling this demographic is the more emotional, younger generation(I hope). Perhaps someone could research this as a senior thesis?

You can downvote all you want but:
1. Supposedly done to save football FAIL
2. Violations were so terrible - NIL started immediately after that and made Wade’s activities look like a gigantic nothing burger. FAIL
3. Woodward’s true reason for firing Wade was because he didn’t like him. Petty excuse if he’s a good coach and the fans like him, it’s a business. FAIL

How come every time this comes up, there is a glaring lack of comment on Will Wade's list of frick ups?
This is the equivalent of a husband cheating on a wife, getting caught, denying everything, refusing to go to counseling, and then getting mad at the wife for divorcing him because he was a good dad.

Woodward didn’t get Mulkey. See wanted to come home regardless of the AD.

This isn't a particularly difficult concept to understand.
1. Fans of LSU basketball (well any sport) enjoy watching their team win.
2. Wade won at the most consistent rate of any coach in the last (nearly) 40 years of the program.
3. Fans did not want to see the guy who was accomplishing No. 2 leave.
4. Wade's replacement has been an abject failure in every meaningful sense. Thus, fans, to the extent there are any remaining, would like to see a change to fix that.
5. Fans would like to see the guy they watched win at the most consistent rate of any coach in the last (nearly) 40 years of the program return to hopefully do so again.
Frankly, what is more odd is seeing purported "fans" exercise ridiculous leaps of logic to try to excuse and/or justify the performance of a coach who (a) has the lowest SEC winning % in the 100+ year history of the program and (b) has made the program the worst in a 16 team conference throughout his entire for year tenure.
If you went to any fan, of any sport, of any school in American and asked them would they prefer coach A or coach B in this scenario, every one would say "A". Yet, you attach Wade's name to coach "A" and seemingly all sense of rational thought goes out the window for a small subset of fans.

They should have had their coach for the tourney.

....while the dad goes on to remarry, have a successful career, and continue to be a good dad, while the wife quickly marries a total loser with no job, who moves the family into a shitty trailer, and can't afford to feed the kids, thus forcing the kids (i.e. the fans) to suffer FAR worse than when the wife was with the philandering dad.
LSU basketball fans don't care why Wade was fired. They just care that he WAS fired and as a result, they've had to watch 4 years of shitty basketball.

I’m a Wade fanboy. I wish LSU had stuck by him and took whatever initial hit it would have caused. I am not 100% convinced they did it to keep the football team from penalties. But even if that is the case I don’t suspect the penalty would have been anything the football program couldn’t have overcome. Of course as big a football fan as I am I’m also a huge basketball fan. I lived through the 80s-early 90s years, and for those who didn’t it was a lot of fun. Especially in the early 90s when football was bad, hoops was king. CJ, Shaq and a lot of other good players came through at that time, and a lot of great games were played in the PMAC.
Wade’s tenure was the closest we’ve come to sustained success like that in basketball. It’s fun for Selection Sunday to mean something exciting. We had that again.
All this said, if I’m being objective, I really do think the administration from the BOS to the athletic department tried and wanted to keep Wade. If you remember, Alleva’s suspension of Wade caused an uproar and led to Alleva’s dismissal and Woodward’s hiring. As I recall LSU and Wade agreed to a revised contract that stipulated that if a Level 1 infraction was found he could be dismissed with cause. Wade attested he’d didn’t commit a Level 1, so when the NCAA report came down that he had, LSU almost had to make the move. Woodward was in charge, so having no ties to Wade he fired him. And he probably wanted his own hire anyway.
The primary reason IMO that losing Wade has stuck with so many of us is the fallout since: 1- Kansas stood by Self who received 5 Level 1 infractions (downgraded later, but KU let it play out); 2- Wade resurrecting his career so successfully at McNeese; and 3- the complete failure of the McMahon tenure. Had LSU hired Golden, for example, Wade would be a distant thought in most of our minds.
But since #3 didn’t happen I’d be thrilled to have the General roaming court side in P&G in the PMAC once again.

Scott was never going to allow that because the team was getting healthy and no way was he going to be able to fire a coach that could have produced a sweet 16.
Instead we got plowed on seeding and then had a demoralized team get worked because of how Scott treated them. The fact the team found out from twitter is another fat Scott black eye

To this date the NCAA has never proved any violations that were committed by Wade as LSU head coach. No player has ever admitted to receiving impermissible benefits.

That's long been a popular narrative, but I don't really know how true it actually is.
If I had to guess Woodward himself had that narrative put out to make it easier to justify what he knew would be an unpopular firing.

And BR has a weak media that wouldn’t do any questioning of it and would be glad to carry his water.
