I think a mistake (OP) would also be trying to equate a full stadium at kickoff to a good stadium experience. Last year's Florida game was an AWESOME environment and it had less than 100K between one unranked team and another barely in the top 25.

This problem isn't exclusive to LSU. Stadiums across the country are not filling up and emptying in the 2nd half of games that aren't close. People still show up for the big games. The viewer experience at home has become so nice that most people prefer that route. No traffic, a/c, eat/drink whatever you want, go to bed at a decent time. It's hard to argue with that amount of convenience.

I have my doubts Tiger Stadium will ever truly sell out again. You’ll need like a 1 vs 2 matchup, if that even gets it there. They expanded the stadium at the worst time.

I know this is not the correct place to post this but I am new and have no clue. I am going to the LSU/bama game and would like to know the best place to purchase tickets. Thank you and I apologize for posting in the wrong place.

yeah. less than a year after your third National Title appearance in a decade is a horrible time to expand.

1 - LSU fans have to genuinely believe in the lead up and during the game that they can actually lose. Maybe not necessarily an underdog but that losing is a legit and very real possibility

We were home underdogs.

The run on stadium expansions was largely over when they expanded. Per usual, LSU was way late to the game, and expanded when teams started downsizing. LSU themselves has admitted through back channels that it’s something they regret.

I think eventually they’re going to need to turn the uppers into some kind of premium seating option or drop prices up there to like $10.

i was thinking a SRO/bar/club with tables at the top of the uppers could be cool.

Inflation has a big deal on this. People just don't have the money right now to bring their family of four to the game

I'm coming for the Black Bears

Bama should definitely fill it up, if that won't.

Sure it will

Look at 2018 Georgia.

That was #2 vs #13 so pretty close to a top 10 matchup. That was also due the absurd amount of Georgia fans that bought up a bunch of tickets.

I do agree with you though, 90k with a great atmosphere is better than 100k of people who don’t care as much.

bullshite!

when is the last time attendance was listed at less than the pre-expansion capacity?

before 2014 when they expanded.

no, they may not reach the full load of 102K, but they more than mid 90k (which is more than capacity prior to expansion) at lowest every game since expansion

i seriously doubt LSU regrets selling an extra 5,000 - 7,000 tickets (on low side) every single game.

A lot of Tennessee fans are making the trip this season. If they’re undefeated, it will be full.

The seats are sold, the games are just not fully attended. Thus, games are in fact sell outs.

Additionally, several stadiums were expanding including Bama and Texas A&M at the time of our expansion, we were not behind the curve.

Furthermore, full attendance is not isolated to LSU, it’s happening everywhere.

Lastly, I don’t get the retraction argument. Whether the ticket holder attends does not adversely affect a revenue stream which has already been secured. It is not likely a concern of LSU or any school or franchise and affords opportunity for more fans to attend a big game that they may have been priced out of but for expansion.

Almost half of that crowd was wearing red… in Death Valley.

Though I did love to see them leave with their sad faces.

Probably 30 percent. The MSU section was empty.
